Electrical BoP & InfrastructureAs an Engineer within the Electrical BoP & Infrastructure department (eBoP&I), you will be a part of a highly skilled team, with focus on the integration of hybrid electrical components such as Photovoltaic (PV), Battery Energy Storage (BES) and Power-to-X (PtX) solutions in Vestas Hybrid Power Plants.At eBoP&I we look to improve the reliability of the system by standardizing dynamic components for Vestas Power Plants, such as Capacitor Banks, STATCOM and Synchronous Condensers, ensuring its compliance with global and regional standards. We have team members with both senior expertise from transmission system operators, highly skilled academia- and long industry background. This position is placed in Chennai, India. We live the Vestas values: Accountability, Collaboration, Simplicity and Passion which form the backbone for our culture of striving for world class.ResponsibilitiesDevelop new and improve existing company standards on dynamic componentsTake part in qualification of 3rd party vendor components Undertake generic updates of our hybrid and dynamic components Technical Purchase Specification (TPS) Support technical vendor dialogues with relevant companies in the industry Take part in the tests and verifications related to the components in qualification process, together with specialized teams colleaguesConduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)Interface with colleagues from our internal value chain and Vestas sales organizationSupport R&D projects related to various plant componentsSupport the technology outlook within our field and inputs to our R&D roadmapDevelop modular design concepts for hybrid power plants following Vestas internal processesTake part in Supplier Qualification assessments for technical evaluation of 3rd party components such as Power Transformers, Switchgears & HV CablesDevelop and maintain EBoP tools & sizing calculations according to IEC/ IEEE standards for passive componentsConduct simulations such as load flow, short circuit studies integrating all BoP assets in Power Factory & ETAPQualificationsBachelor/ Master Electrical / Power Systems / Similar specializationAt least 5-6 years of demonstrated technical accomplishments professional experiencePossess a solid understanding of concepts like renewable power plant design, system definition & analysis, as well as grid interconnectionHave a proven history of planning and designing eBoP systems, such as, on AC/DC systems, MV/HV equipment and Control, Protection and Relay Coordination & HV Substation designHave a general knowledge of some of the following Wind power plants SVCs, STATCOMs Diesel/gas-gensets Synchronous condensers Other emerging main electrical components for hybrid renewable power plantsHave knowledge on relevant IEC/ IEEE standards for electrical components in a substationBe motivated to work within renewable power plants R&DWorked on technical specifications and project documentationWorked on R&D projects following stage-gate development processesExperience in Pre or Detailed design engineering on any Generation/ Distribution power systemWorked with Grid operators, Power generators, Utilities, Grid consulting companies, Power plant engineering companies or eBoP components manufacturers etcExperience using the major power system simulation tools such as ETAP, PowerFactory, PSS/E and PSCADGeneral knowledge of power plant control systemsCompetenciesApproach situations in a pragmatically mannerNaturally share knowledge with the teamCommunicate in English at a high level both verbally and in writingEnjoy delivering results, both separately and through othersNetwork and build, develop and maintain relationships in a global, multi-cultural environmentHave a documented experience in developing and working through other engineers, that could have included scoping projects and setting direction for smaller teamsEnjoy growing and working through othersWe offer you a job in a true global and fast-moving organization with great opportunities for personal development, where emphasis is placed on the right balance between creativity and quality in all solutions.You will benefit from working at a high professional level and with a solid technical commitment in a very inspiring environment.
