Associate Vice President – Engineering

Role OverviewThe AVP – Engineering will lead the complete technology build and delivery of the BLive Mobility platform, a global SaaS solution integrating EV fleet management, charging infrastructure, driver operations, and carbon management.This role demands a hands-on engineering leader who can architect, code when needed, and manage a cross-functional team across frontend, backend, DevOps, and QA. The AVP will define the technical roadmap, drive system design, ensure performance and security, oversee database migration, and lead the transition from a monolithic to a microservices-based architecture to scale the platform across India and globally.Key Responsibilities1. Technology Leadership & Platform Ownership- Own the end-to-end engineering strategy, roadmap, and execution for the BLive Mobility platform.- Architect and build a scalable, modular, multi-tenant SaaS platform integrating Fleet, Charging, Driver, and Carbon modules.- Collaborate closely with Product Management to translate feature roadmaps into sprint-ready engineering plans.- Drive continuous delivery, code quality, and release discipline for platform reliability and uptime.- Manage system scalability, availability, and cost optimization on AWS Cloud.2. Hands-On Development & Architecture- Lead by example — contribute to coding, architecture design, and code reviews where required.- Deep expertise in Node.js/NestJS, microservices, and AWS Cloud Architecture.- Provide technical direction for Flutter and React-based frontend development.- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS), containerization, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Ansible).- Design and maintain event-driven systems using Kafka, SQS, SNS with strong observability using ELK, Prometheus, Grafana.- Oversee database migration projects, ensuring seamless transition from monolith to microservices.- Manage integrations with ERP systems, OEM telematics, CIAM, and external APIs.- Partner with DevOps for secure, automated, and observable infrastructure (CI/CD, IaC).3. Engineering Execution & Team Leadership- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing engineering team (Frontend, Backend, DevOps, QA).- Create a culture of ownership, innovation, and technical excellence.- Conduct regular technical and database schema reviews.- Collaborate with Product and Business teams for effective sprint planning and delivery.- Oversee vendor and partner integrations for accelerated project timelines.4. AI, Data, and Innovation- Drive adoption of AI/ML for predictive analytics, route optimization, and carbon insights.- Work with data teams to establish real-time, event-driven data pipelines.- Explore emerging technologies to enhance platform intelligence and operational efficiency.Required Skills & Experience- 10+ years of experience in software development, architecture, and engineering leadership.- Proven track record in building or scaling multi-tenant SaaS platforms.- Deep expertise in Node.js/NestJS, microservices, and AWS Cloud Architecture.- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS), containerization, and IaC (Terraform/Ansible).- Strong understanding of event-driven systems (Kafka, SQS, SNS) and cloud observability (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).- Proficiency in Flutter and React for modern frontend architecture.- Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases (Postgres, MongoDB, DynamoDB).- Proven experience in database migration and monolith-to-microservices transformation.- Exposure to security, compliance, and performance tuning at scale.- Ability to make build-vs-buy decisions, manage vendors, and balance short-term delivery with long-term scalability.Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.- Prior experience in EV mobility, fleet tech, logistics, or IoT platforms.- Familiarity with AI/ML integrations, telematics data, or carbon analytics.Soft Skills- Strategic thinker with a builder’s mindset.- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.- Analytical, solution-oriented, and detail-focused.- Passionate about mentoring and growing technical talent.- Entrepreneurial mindset with focus on execution speed and product excellence.
