The Role:We’re looking for a Smart Contract + Backend Engineer who will design, build, and maintain core DeFi protocols and the supporting backend services. You will work closely with our product, protocol, and data teams to deliver scalable and secure on-chain and off-chain components, as well as ensure reliable data indexing and APIs for front-end applications and analytics. What You’ll DoSmart Contract Development: Design, implement, and test secure and efficient smart contracts (Solidity). Contribute to protocol upgrades, new DeFi primitives, and cross-chain integrations. Write thorough unit, integration, and fuzz tests to ensure contract security and reliability. Backend Engineering: Build and maintain services that interact with blockchain networks and DeFi protocols. Develop APIs and backend logic for data aggregation, market analytics, and user-facing features. Work with caching layers, queues, and databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, etc.) to optimize performance. Data Indexing & Subgraphs: Design and implement subgraphs using The Graph or custom indexers to power analytics and dashboards. Ensure data pipelines are robust, efficient, and scalable. Maintain high data accuracy for protocol metrics such as TVL, APY, LTV, and user positions. Collaboration & Code Quality: Work closely with front-end and protocol teams to ensure seamless integration of on-chain and off-chain components. Follow best practices in software design, testing, documentation, and security. Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers. Qualifications:Experience : 2–4 years of experience in software development with at least 1–2 years in DeFi-related roles. Smart Contracts : Strong knowledge of Solidity, common DeFi standards (ERC-20, ERC-4626, etc.), gas optimization, and security best practices. Backend Development : Proficiency in Node.js (NestJS preferred), Rust, or Go. DeFi Knowledge : Familiarity with lending, borrowing, AMMs, staking, bridging, and yield optimization strategies. DeFi Math Expertise : Strong understanding of financial math used in DeFi protocols, including interest rate models and bonding curves, AMM mathematics, slippage checks, liquidity simulations, and price impact calculations. Indexing & Data Pipelines : Hands-on experience with The Graph, custom indexers, and integrating blockchain data into backend services. Database & Infra : Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, caching layers, and message queues. APIs & Integrations : Experience designing REST/GraphQL APIs that serve real-time protocol and market data. Security & Testing : Understanding of smart contract vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies. Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
