Want to be a part of our team?Plans computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries. Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Note: May be internal or external, client-focused, working in conjunction with Professional Services and outsourcing functions. May include company-wide, web-enabled solutions.

Working at NTTThe primary responsibility of the Database Administrator is to ensure the performance, integrity and security of databases and processes. Individuals in this position contribute to the design of both back-end organisation of data and front-end accessibility for end-users.Database Administrators work closely with Change Control, Release Management, Asset and Configuration Management and Capacity and Availability Management to establish the needs of users, monitoring user access and security. They assist in controlling access to databases environments through permissions and privileges.Key role and responsibilities:Assist with refining the logical design of the database to enable the translation into a specific data modelAssist with the mapping out of the conceptual design for a planned databaseParticipate in the writing of database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)Create, test and execute data management languagesMonitor the performance and manage the parameters of the database to ensur the execution of speedy query responsesMonitor production databases regularly or respond to any database issues by bringing down the database or taking the database offlineProactively support the development of database utilities and automated reporting.Set up data sharing and disk partitioningEnable front-end users to access data concurrently in a way or form that suits their particular needsWork closely with the Change Control and Release Management functions to commission and install new applications and customising existing applications in order to make them fit for purposeApply the patches and upgrade the database as required by the design teamCommunicate regularly with technical, applications and operational employees to ensure database integrity and securityMaintain data standards in accordance with business requirements, NTT policies and the data protection legislationWork in accordance with the security information requirements and procedures of the company.Perform installation, configuration and maintenance of database management systems and related software within the context of a database administration planKnowledge, skills and attributesWorking knowledge of data encryption techniques and database querying and management toolsAbility to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail on each projectAbility to learn new technologies as needed to provide the best solutions to all stakeholdersStrong problem analysis skills to include the use of mathematical concepts to validate resultsStrong analytical mind and business acumenAbility to collect, organise, disseminate and present significant amounts of informationAbility to communicate complex IT information in simplified form depending on the target audienceSound understanding of the principles of data architecture and data servicesSolid knowledge of relational database design and administrationKnowledge of application development lifecycle and data access layersDemonstrate the ability to plan and organiseProblem-solving aptitudeExcellent problem solving and troubleshooting skillsHighly process orientated with great documentation skillsStrong analytical skills related to working with unstructured datasetsAbility to manipulate, process and extract value from large, disconnected datasetsAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesSolid understanding of database design principlesAbility to manage multiple database and application services in a highly complex integrated environmentAbility to maintain data integrity of databasesAcademic qualifications and certifications:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, information technology or relevant fieldRelevant certification, such as MCSE DBA, oracles associate or equivalentRelevant ITIL certification requiredExperience required:Proven experience working as a Database AdministratorDemonstrated experience with database backup and recovery best practicesDemonstrated experience running and creating health assessment reportsDemonstrated experience working with suppliers to deliver solutionsDemonstrated experience in Oracle EnterpriseDemonstrated experience in Microsoft SQL ServerDemonstrated experience managing databasesSkills SummaryDatabase Design, Database Management Systems (DBMS), Database Systems, Data Migrations, Process Optimization, Recovery Management, Scripting
