Senior backend qa automation engineer – api testing

THIS IS A LONG-TERM CONTRACT POSITION WITH ONE OF THE LARGEST, GLOBAL, TECHNOLOGY LEADERS.We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Test Engineer with strong expertise in Backend | REST API Automation | Java | Dev Ops tools. You will be part of a dynamic engineering team in Pune, working on building robust, scalable, and high-quality cloud and web products. This is a hybrid role based in Pune.Key Responsibilities:- Own and execute end-to-end backend automation for new and existing features.- Define the QA strategy for the team and set up robust release management practices.- Collaborate with product managers and designers to understand requirements and convert them into detailed test plans.- Write clean assertions that map to business acceptance criteria and maintain stable automation suites.- Drive automation coverage within the scrum team and implement best practices for scalable and maintainable frameworks.- Identify flaky tests, strengthen automation stability, and optimize the testing pyramid.- Work closely with engineering teams in a fast-paced, agile environment.Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a reputed institution.- 5–8 years of professional experience in Software Testing or SDET roles.- Strong hands-on experience in Java, Java Script, or Python for automation scripting.- Expertise with REST API automation frameworks such as Rest Assured, Karate, etc.- Proficiency in BDD frameworks like Cucumber or JBehave.- Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter or equivalent).- Hands-on experience with Jira, Jenkins, Git, and version control workflows.- Strong understanding of automation strategy, test environments, and CI/CD pipelines.Primary Skills: Backend Automation (REST API), Rest Assured, Java, Cucumber, Docker, Jenkins, Load & Performance TestingSecondary Skills: Selenium, Cypress, JUnit, Mockito, Python, plunkOur large, Fortune client is ranked among the top global technology leaders and is consistently recognized as one of the best companies to work for.
