Job Summary:

As a QA Engineer specialising in Software Testing & Hardware Integration , you will be responsible for ensuring quality and reliability of our comprehensive sports technology software platform and its integrations with various hardware components. Your core focus will be software testing with emphasis on testing software integrations with vision-based AI systems, IoT devices, and control interfaces. This individual contributor role requires proven experience in software testing environments with understanding of hardware integration challenges and underlying communication protocols. You will execute software validation processes, develop testing protocols for software-hardware integrations, and ensure seamless operation of our integrated sports technology platform, working directly with the Delivery Head to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Testing (Primary Focus):

Web Application Testing: Execute comprehensive functional testing of admin portals and web applications

• Perform cross-browser compatibility testing and responsive design validation
• Test user interfaces, workflows, and business logic implementations
• Validate form submissions, data processing, and user authentication flows

Mobile Application Testing: Execute functional testing of iOS and Android applications

• Perform device compatibility testing across different screen sizes and OS versions
• Test app performance, battery usage, and memory optimisation
• Validate offline functionality and data synchronisation capabilities

API Testing: Test RESTful APIs for functionality, performance, and security

• Validate API responses, error handling, and data integrity
• Execute integration testing between frontend applications and backend services
• Test API rate limiting, authentication, and authorisation mechanisms

Software-Hardware Integration Testing:

Vision-Based AI System Integration: Test software interfaces that control computer vision systems and AI processing modules

• Validate software integration with real-time video analytics and machine learning algorithms
• Test software handling of AI model outputs, confidence scores, and decision-making logic
• Validate software performance with vision-based tracking and analysis systems

IoT Device Software Integration: Test software interfaces with edge computing devices and sensor networks

• Validate software handling of device data collection, processing, and transmission
• Test software integration with device management and monitoring systems
• Validate software handling of device connectivity, status reporting, and error management

Hardware Control Interface Testing: Test software applications that interface with various hardware control systems

• Validate software integration with device APIs and communication protocols
• Test software workflows for hardware status monitoring and control commands
• Validate software handling of hardware responses, error reporting, and configuration management

Software Testing Methodologies:

Functional Testing:

• Execute comprehensive test cases for software functionality across all platforms
• Test user workflows, business logic, and feature implementations
• Validate software behaviour under normal and edge case scenarios
• Test error handling, validation messages, and user feedback mechanisms

Integration Testing:

• Test software integrations between different application components
• Validate data flow between software modules and external hardware APIs
• Test software communication with third-party services and external systems
• Validate software handling of hardware status updates and real-time data feeds

Performance Testing:

• Execute software performance tests under various load conditions
• Test software response times, throughput, and resource utilisation
• Validate software scalability with multiple concurrent users and data processing
• Test software performance when interfacing with hardware components

Security Testing:

• Test software security features, authentication, and authorisation mechanisms
• Validate software handling of sensitive data and compliance requirements
• Test software integration security with hardware authentication systems
• Validate software protection against common security vulnerabilities

What You'll Own:

• Execute comprehensive software testing activities across web, mobile, and backend systems
• Implement software integration testing protocols for hardware-connected components
• Own software validation execution from development to production readiness
• Coordinate with development teams for software defect resolution and verification
• Maintain automated testing frameworks for continuous software validation
• Ensure adherence to software quality standards and testing best practices

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential Software Testing Experience:

• 2-5 years of hands-on experience in software testing (web applications, mobile apps, APIs)
• Strong experience with manual testing methodologies and test case design
• Proven experience in API testing using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or similar
• Experience with mobile application testing on iOS and Android platforms
• Knowledge of database testing and SQL query validation
• Understanding of software integration testing with external systems and services

Hardware Integration Understanding:

• Communication Protocols: Good understanding of MQTT, TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, and IoT communication protocols
• Hardware-Software Interfaces: Knowledge of how software interfaces with hardware components through APIs and drivers
• Vision-Based AI Systems: Understanding of computer vision applications, AI model integration, and real-time video processing
• IoT Architecture: Knowledge of IoT device communication, edge computing, and software-hardware data exchange

Education & Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, or related technical field
• Quality assurance certifications are a plus

Preferred Experience (Highly Valued):

• Previous experience with sports technology, fitness applications, or hardware integration
• Background in testing applications that integrate with hardware devices or IoT systems
• Experience with computer vision applications, AI/ML systems, or video processing software
• Knowledge of sports analytics software, performance measurement applications, or data visualisation tools
