Reporting to – Chief Risk Officer
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks to identify, assess, and mitigate risks.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure alignment with risk management objectives and facilitate the implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
- Monitor key risk indicators and provide timely reports and recommendations to senior management and the board of directors.
- Lead and oversee internal audit activities, including planning, execution, and reporting of audit findings.
- Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory developments, and emerging risks to proactively identify potential threats and opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CFA) preferred.
- Minimum of 12+ years of experience in risk management, internal audit, or related field, preferably in the Microfinance industry.
- Strong understanding of risk management principles, internal control frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex situations and make informed decisions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven leadership abilities with experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving change initiatives.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., MS Office, risk management tools) and familiarity with audit methodologies.
