Our client is a leading OEM in the automobile space with a country wide presence. They have multiple manufacturing facilities and R&D centres.

Job Description

Design traction battery pack module based on the vehicle specification:-Create design proposals (3D Models & 2D Drawings) in CAD environment by performing related theoretical base calculations to arrive at critical design parameters and considering manufacturability requirements to meet functional targetsMust have extensive real time experience of designing battery pack / Module from Pouch cellsUnderstand the construction and constraint of the Pouch cell while designing the battery Pack,Must have deep understanding of the components while designing the battery pack from concept to SOP using Pouch cells, understand and mitigate the design challenge while using the pouch cells.Design the battery pack from concept stage to production, participate to the definition of guidelines, and ensure a proper pack development in terms of mechanical integrity, electrical performance and thermal performance.Ability to understand the GD&T and perform tolerance stack up calculations for various assembly gaps.Register and update the 3D CAD models, CAD assemblies & 2D CAD Drawing in the PLM. Create the "Technical Part List (TPL) for the responsible sub-system.Preparation of detail BOM and DFMEACell holder design, Module design, Case design.Coordinate cell and BMS integration into battery design.Provide design/production team with the process guidelines to ensure a proper industrialization.Define quality control and process for battery prototypes and production.Make Vs Buy battery strategy, Supplier handling, Benchmarking & Roadmap:-Preparation of detail make Vs Buy battery components plan and prepare SOR for Bought out components, discuss with supplier and shared to supplier through VDAbility to evaluate and negotiate battery requirement & TRSO deviation with the supplier and get them sign-off as per RFQ/RFIBenchmarking of competitor battery child parts components and Ensure that designs and investments meet domestic and global market automotive requirements.Participate to the definition of modularity, platform and processes that can be communized across different battery pack designs and production plant.Participate to the definition of technologies and research flows needed to develop a state-of-the-art battery pack.Improve the battery development process with the required milestones, deliverables and integrate into the drivetrain development process.

Battery Safety and Support battery validation and test activities:-PRV and child parts components selection ensure to meet the compliance of designs, Safety guidelines and standards (AIS-156, etc).Prepare DVP and guidelines for battery testingSupport battery test engineer for facilities building, selection of battery packs and cell test equipment.Ensure validation plan is fulfilled on time and reduce the design iterations.Experience of design BP using Pouch cell to meet the safety compliance (AIS-156)Gateway system, Manage the battery development and activities:-Ensure battery pack development follows the V-Cycle and company R&D gateway systemManage activities and organize tasks across the team.Create a unified and collaborative environment across research centres.Define and track project timeline inside drivetrain development scope

Tech in Mechanical Eng./ MechatronicsExperience of Battery Pack manufacturing 1-5 yearsExperience in regulations and standards (AIS-156, AIS-038, ECE R100, etc.) for battery packsWide experience and knowledge in lithium-ion battery pack designWide experience and knowledge in battery pack production equipment and processKnowledge of testing and validation of battery packsKnowledge in IMD and isolation measurement circuit designKnowledge of Li-ion cell chemistry, form factor and welding technologiesGood understanding of charging protocol (GB/T, CCS2) and CAN communication
