About the team:

The Controllership at Flipkart is responsible to implement strong controls ensuring high quality financial reporting and analysis. Controllership team plays an important role as finance business partner supporting their strategic decision making with inputs on compliance and reporting. Team is embarking on digital transformation journey to enhance efficiency and further enhance controls.

Some of the challenging problems we are trying to solve:

● Drive more leakage improvements
● Digitization and automations
● Regular financial reviews to improve quality, improve accuracy of forecast.
● Drive insights with the business to improve timeliness of reporting

What you’ll do:

Provide strategic leadership and direction for the general ledger accounting function, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities. Manage a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to foster professional growth and development. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data by reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports prepared by the team. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to streamline accounting processes, optimize efficiency, and enhance internal controls. Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Lead the preparation and analysis of financial reports and variance explanations for senior management and external stakeholders. Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, providing requested documentation and explanations, and addressing audit findings in a timely manner. Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and impairment testing. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of the general ledger accounting function. Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations, and ensure compliance with new requirements.

What you’ll need:

Qualified CA with 7 to 9years of post qualification experience in GL accounting role, with at least 2+ years in a managerial role. Deep understanding of GAAP principles, financial reporting requirements, and internal controls. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail. Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels. Proven track record of driving process improvements and implementing best practices. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling sensitive information.
