As we continue to expand our footprint, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Procurement Lead who can bring deep expertise in construction materials, commodities hedging, and financial management to optimize our procurement processes.
Job Description
Job Title: Procurement Head
The Procurement Lead will be responsible for managing the procurement of high-value construction materials, with a focus on steel, aluminum, and processed materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in credit financing, financial management, and commodities hedging, ensuring the company’s procurement strategy aligns with financial goals and risk management objectives. This role will also involve building an ERP system from scratch to streamline operations and enhance data management. Experience in B2B procurement marketplaces and a robust understanding of vendor management and supply chain systems are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
●  Procurement Strategy & Execution:
○  Develop and implement a strategic procurement plan for construction materials and high-value commodities like steel and aluminum.
○  Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms, including pricing, quality, delivery schedules, and credit financing.
○  Manage the procurement process for large-scale projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project budgets.
●  Commodities Hedging & Financial Management:
○  Implement hedging strategies to manage price volatility in key commodities, ensuring cost stability and predictability.
○  Oversee the financial management of procurement activities, including budgeting, cost analysis, and credit risk assessment.
○  Collaborate with the finance team to integrate procurement activities into the company’s overall financial strategy.
●  Credit Financing & Vendor Management:
○  Manage relationships with key suppliers and vendors, focusing on securing credit terms and optimizing cash flow.
○  Build and maintain a robust vendor database, ensuring a reliable and scalable supply chain.
○  Evaluate and onboard new vendors, ensuring they meet the company’s standards for quality, reliability, and financial stability.
○  Plan and manage the credit portfolio with suppliers, aligning with project inflows and receivables to optimize credit terms and financial health.
●  ERP System Development & Adoption:
○  Lead the development and implementation of an ERP system tailored to the company’s operations, ensuring it meets the needs of procurement, finance, and project management teams.
○  Drive the adoption of the ERP system within the procurement team, ensuring accurate database creation and efficient use of the system.
○  Leverage the ERP system to improve understanding and management of project-specific procurement needs, enabling better credit planning and supplier management.
○  Ensure that the ERP system facilitates comprehensive tracking of materials, costs, and supplier performance, providing actionable insights for continuous improvement.
●  Supply Chain Optimization:
○  Continuously evaluate and improve the supply chain process, focusing on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and risk mitigation.
○  Work closely with the operations and project management teams to ensure seamless coordination between procurement and project execution.
○  Implement best practices in procurement and supply chain management, leveraging technology and data analytics.
●  Leadership & Team Development:
○  Lead and mentor a procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
○  Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the team’s skills in procurement, financial management, ERP usage, and supply chain optimization.
○  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive company-wide procurement initiatives and support overall business objectives.
Qualifications & Skills:
●  Experience: 5+ years in procurement, with a focus on construction materials and commodities such as steel and aluminum.
● Industry Background: Preference for candidates with experience in companies like Metalbook, OFBusiness, Infra.market, or similar B2B procurement marketplaces that offer credit financing and handle large-scale procurement.
●  Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of credit financing, financial management, and commodities hedging.
●  ERP & Technology: Proven experience in building and implementing ERP systems from scratch, driving team adoption, and ensuring data accuracy for strategic decision-making.
●  Vendor Management: Proven track record in managing vendor relationships, negotiating favorable terms, and optimizing supply chain systems.
●  Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute procurement strategies that align with the company’s financial goals and project requirements .
●  Leadership: Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing procurement teams.
●  Communication: Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
