Technical Product Owner


Be a part of building the future of tax technology We are seeking a top-performing, versatile, and passionate Technical Product Owner with over 8 years of experience in Product Management for an open position in our Content Engineering department, where we curate all the tax content needs for various Avalara product suites.


The candidate will have solid expertise in driving discussions with business users, discovering current processes and solutions, meticulous documenting and defining new solutions.


As Technical Product Owner, you will work closely with content researchers and software development team to define Roadmap Initiatives, Epics and sprint stories, define acceptance criteria, define MVP features and define launch plan.


This role holds the vision that will be executed by the agile team. This opportunity provides an enriching environment for professional development, collaborative innovation, and significant contributions to the organization's success.


About Content Engineering: Content Engineering is the foundation of our tax compliance solutions. It plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and up-to-date tax content is delivered to our clients.


Qualifications :


- Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.


- Experience working closely with Engineering and experience with Agile development teams.


- 8+ years experience in product management, product owner working with software development teams and 4+ years of work experience in in agile methodologies.


- Excellent written skills with subject matter and technical topics such as indirect tax, tax regulations, software languages, and product marketing will be a plus


- Ability to manage complex calendar and meeting workloads.


- Prioritization of urgent requests and strategic tasks


- Skilled at understanding and documenting complicated processes with multiple processes, technologies, and end-user personas.


- Flexible schedule that can accommodate a geographically diverse team across multiple time zones and cultural backgrounds.


- Be empathetic about the users.
