Sr. Test Engineer

Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Identify test cases that can be automated, analyse requirements and select the appropriate test cases for automation, ensuring optimal test coverage. Create a comprehensive test strategy that outlines the approach, tools, and techniques to be used for API automation testing and shall also document this strategy to guide the testing process and ensure consistency and efficiency. General Business Develop a detailed test plan that outlines the scope, objectives, and resources required for API automation testing. This plan serves as a roadmap for executing the tests and ensures that all necessary steps are followed. Responsible for designing and implementing an automation framework that serves as a structured approach for organizing and executing automated tests. The framework ensures consistency, reusability, and scalability in the testing process. Closely monitor the defect management process, which involves identifying, reporting, and managing defects. Collaborate with other team members to resolve defects and ensure that the API’s meets quality standards. Manage changes in the API’s and execute regression tests to ensure that new code changes do not impact existing functionality. Work closely with DevOps and development teams to integrate testing into the delivery pipeline. Help identify issues early, align testing strategies with deployment goals, and support faster, more stable releases. Mentor junior QA engineers, sharing best practices in automation testing and fostering a culture of quality within the team. Continuously evaluate and implement new testing tools and technologies to improve testing efficiency and effectiveness. Competencies To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Qualifications and/or Experience: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an accredited university. 5-10 years of industry experience, with proficiency in programming languages such as Java or Javascript for test automation. Experience with automation testing frameworks such as Selenium, TestNG, or JUnit. Extensive knowledge of mobile applications and microservices (API’s). Well-developed problem analysis and problem-solving techniques. Team player who is self-motivated and has ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff. Computer Skills: Mandatory Experience in performance testing using tools like LoadRunner, K6. Knowledge of cloud technologies and services (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). Experience with version control systems like Git. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Java or JavaScript to develop automated tests. Hands-on experience with testing frameworks like Playwright, Selenium, Appium or similar. Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and tools such as Azure DevOps or GitLab CI. Certifications in software testing (e.g., ISTQB) are a plus. Required Technical/ Functional Competencies Requirement Gathering and Analysis: Good understanding of requirement gathering and analysis concepts and terminology. Able to independently identify, describe, and document requirements, and have experience in creating and reviewing requirements. Able to conduct basic analysis of requirements, such as identifying gaps and inconsistencies. Testing Design: Has knowledge of test design techniques, framework, and approach. Can design test cases based on requirements and specifications. Can create test plans and strategies, identify and manage risks in the testing process, and perform exploratory testing. Test Planning: Has a deeper understanding of test planning concepts and can create a comprehensive test plan. Can design and execute complex test cases based on multiple scenarios and variables. Can prioritize and report defects based on their severity and impact on the system. Estimation and Resource Planning: Basic understanding of estimation and resource planning techniques, such as the WBS model. Ability: Identify required resources and utilize suitable estimation models for low-medium complete scenarios based on project scope. Product/ Technology Knowledge: Has a solid understanding of testing processes and techniques. Has a good understanding of the technology and products been tested. Can execute tests independently and analyze results. Test Development: Demonstrates a good understanding of test development principles and concepts. Can perform a variety of item-writing tasks with minimal supervision. May require some guidance in developing more complex test forms. Customer Management: Has working knowledge of customer's business domain and technology suite. Use latest technology, proactively suggest solutions to increase business, and understand customer's business. Knowledge Management: Working knowledge of Knowledge Management principles and practices. Able to apply the principles and practices in practical situations and use the tools and techniques effectively. Write technical and user understanding documents. Domain/ Industry Knowledge: Basic knowledge of customer's business processes and relevant technology platform or product. Able to prepare process maps, workflows, business cases, test cases, and test data for simple to medium requirements with the assistance of SME. Test Execution: Has intermediate understanding of test execution concepts and practices. Can work independently, identify and prioritize test cases, execute complex test scenarios, perform regression testing, and provide clear and concise defect reports. May need occasional guidance and supervision for complex tasks. Test Automation Technology/Product Knowledge: Working knowledge of Automation tools. Able to independently create and execute medium to complex automation scripts for functional testing. Develop automation frameworks with guidance.
