SCADA Process Control Specialist

Oversees treatment plant (water) information systems to include installation, configuration, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of programmable logic controllers, remote telemetry units, and other related equipment. Monitors Active Directory domain controls, Structured Query Language (SQL) server, open Virtual Memory System (VMS) servers, workstations, and desktop personal computers. Responsible for the effective supervision and administration of the Waterworks Process Control and Communications Branch including budget preparation and monitoring, purchasing and financial transactions, payroll, performance management, employee relations, prioritizing and assigning work and related activities. Oversees the department’s communication systems to include planning, designing, contracting, implementing, and installing major voice communication projects and data communication infrastructure. Researches, develops and implements strategic initiatives to ensure continuous improvement with the department’s systems. Serves as primary liaison with software vendors, consultants, engineers, instrumentation personnel, customers, and city employees to coordinate activities affecting the process control system.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE ·
Technology – Thorough knowledge of programmable logic controllers, analog instrumentation, quality control analyzers and remote telemetry units. Knowledge of client/server environments, Open VMS, Windows operating systems and word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge of high speed local and wide area networking, including frame relay, fiber optics, and gigabit Ethernet. Knowledge of voice and data communications systems. ·

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer or Information Science, Computer Network Engineering, or a related field with 5-7 years of related experience to include industrial controls including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI), and Local/Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN).
Acceptable general background check and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
