Strategic Data Governance Manager This role plays a crucial part in driving the execution of Novartis' ambition to leverage data as a strategic asset for actionable insights across the organization. This ambition is a key pillar in the broader digital transformation happening at Novartis, aiming to become a focused medicines company powered by data and digital.Within the Operations Domain, this role is responsible for designing and implementing Data Governance processes and Data Operating Model for the Operations Domain in collaboration with the Enterprise Data Owner (EDO) and team members for the Operations Domain.This role will focus on establishing and developing the Novartis data capability in collaboration with functions and leading the implementation within LDC scope. Key Responsibilities Responsible for specific designated Operations Data area(s), and within such area(s): Implement data principles, data governance framework, data ownership, and data operations. Ensure adoption of FAIR data solutions across legacy landscapes to produce FAIR data at the source for entities they own. Responsible for gathering and implementing data requirements coming from Business Function (Domain Pillars in LDC projects), Operations EDO, and team, and other dependent projects/programs. Ensure that all data ideas, concepts, and features are validated with internal stakeholders from all levels of the business. Facilitate cultural change by improving data literacy across the business through training, education, and increasing data consumption. Proactively identify data issues and work with stakeholders to investigate and implement corrective measures and seek opportunities to continuously improve the quality and integrity of the data asset. Drives the transition into new ways of working defined by the Enterprise Operating model per LDC Scope. Manage data quality definition for assigned data within the Operations Data team and is accountable for delivering agreed levels of data quality as an outcome of the data lifecycle management process. Accountabilities Delivery of key milestones and deliverables of the program on time, and in quality, with full buy-in and support of country and global teams. Complexity, Influence and Knowledge & Skills Part of a highly complex program impacting all functions, business areas, countries, and regions. Identifying and managing interdependencies across various functions, teams, and programs of relevant Operations Data entities as well as Operations attributes or impact of non-Operations Data entities. Ability to ensure alignment cross-functions and consider dependencies between data set-up, system configuration, operational process design, and reporting and analytics requirements. Stakeholder management at country/regional/global level. Large and geographically broad scope; very high change impact. Business acumen : Good understanding of worldwide data models in respective business units and divisions, required capabilities, and operational pain points. Curious and forward-looking : Looks for signals both inside and outside the company to identify new trends and future expectations. Digital savvy : Good grasp of impacts and opportunities of data and technology on Novartis. Technical and process knowledge : Knowledge and understanding of impact of data set-up and system configuration on operational processes and analytical capabilities. Education & Experience Master's university degree or higher. At least 5 years' experience in country and global Operations roles. Experience working in data and with system configuration workstreams, in ERP/systems implementations, and/or global business transformations. SAP MM experience is mandatory. Languages English as a must, and additional language(s) preferred. Financial Responsibility Being part of a very large program over 6+ years potentially in the magnitude of 500m USD. Competency Profile Proven data, reporting, Operations process, and compliance or analytics experience possibly in a matrix style within a large, complex data landscape. Experience in data governance/quality and regulatory regimes. Experience in compliance and controls, design, and execution. Excellent communication, collaboration skills with proven speaking, presentation, and facilitation experience in internal and external environments. Able to leverage networks of professionals across functions and business areas. Understands competing organizational needs beyond own part of business.
