Position Overview:


The Quantity Surveyor will play a crucial role in the Project Management & Construction department, providing cost and financial advice throughout the project lifecycle. This role involves preparing cost estimates, managing budgets, negotiating contracts, and ensuring financial efficiency across various projects. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget while reporting on the commercial performance of projects across the business.


Role Responsibilities - What you’ll be doing:

Cost Estimation & Budgeting:

  • To develop the cost estimates provided by the Estimating Department and provide key commercial reporting on individual projects utilising their
  • commercial acumen to drive down costs and increase efficiencies across the project life cycle.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, ensuring costs align with financial projections and liaising with the Finance Department to create
  • management reports including appropriate CVRs
  • Analyse and evaluate tender submissions following the award providing recommendations for improvement
  • Produce procurement schedules based on the cost estimates provided by the Estimating Department and liaise with the project team to drive
  • efficiencies in procurement and managing the supply chain to achieve the best value for the company

Contract Management:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers.
  • Manage contract variations and ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Maintain detailed records of all contract communications and transactions.


Project Financial Control and Cost Value Reconciliation:

  • Prepare and maintain CVR reports, tracking project costs against budgets.
  • Identify and address any discrepancies between projected and actual costs.
  • Conduct regular cost reporting and forecasting, identifying any consistent cost overruns. Running lessons learnt to ensure processes are
  • developed and refined to prevent commercial exposure and manage risk
  • Implement and maintain effective cost-control measures throughout project execution.
  • Work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure financial accountability.


Risk Management:

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and contractual risks associated with projects.
  • Provide advice on risk allocation and management strategies.


Stakeholder Communication:

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and updates to senior management and project stakeholders.


Procurement

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies that support business goals and objectives maximising cost efficiencies and cash flow
  • Manage the procurement process, including sourcing, negotiation, and contracting with suppliers.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze supply chain performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.


Business Support

  • To support the wider needs of the business as required


Requirements - What we’re looking for:

  • Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quantity surveying within the utilities or construction industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • Professional accreditation with a recognized body (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of managing budgets and contracts for large-scale projects.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.


Work Schedule

As the client is UK-based, you will be required to work in UK daytime:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 13:30 - 22:30 IST (08:00 am - 17:00 GMT)
