**Job Summary:**
The Payroll Auditor is responsible for ensuring accuracy and compliance in payroll processing and accounting. This role involves auditing payroll records, ensuring adherence to tax regulations, and verifying the integrity of payroll systems and reports.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Payroll Processing and Audit:**
- Review and audit payroll data for accuracy, including employee hours, wages, deductions, and benefits.
- Ensure payroll is processed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Verify that all payroll transactions comply with internal policies and external regulations.
2. **Compliance:**
- Ensure payroll activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including tax laws and employment standards.
- Prepare and file required tax documents and reports.
3. **Internal Controls:**
- Develop and maintain internal controls related to payroll processes.
- Identify and recommend improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of payroll operations.
4. **Reporting:**
- Generate payroll reports and summaries for management review.
- Analyze payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
5. **Documentation and Record-Keeping:**
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records and documentation.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of payroll information.
6. **Problem-Solving:**
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues.
- Address employee inquiries and concerns related to payroll.
7. **Coordination and Communication:**
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless payroll operations.
- Communicate effectively with employees regarding payroll-related information and changes.
8. **Continuous Improvement:**
- Stay updated with changes in payroll laws and regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance payroll knowledge and skills.
**Qualifications:**
- **Education:** CA Intermediate qualification is required.
- **Experience:** Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing and auditing.
- **Technical Skills:** Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- **Knowledge:** Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and accounting principles.
- **Analytical Skills:** Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- **Attention to Detail:** High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- **Communication:** Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- **Confidentiality:** Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience with (specific payroll software, if applicable).
- Knowledge of (specific industry regulations, if applicable).
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
**Working Conditions:**
- Office environment with standard working hours.
- Occasional extended hours during peak payroll periods or audits.
