Job Description

  • Drives t ractor-trailer combination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations.
  • Maneuvers truck into loading or unloading position, following signals from loading crew as needed.
  • Drives truck to weigh station before and after loading, and along route to document weight and conform to state regulations.
  • Maintains driver log according to DOT regulations.
  • Inspects truck before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.
  • Reads bill of lading to determine assignment.
  • Fastens chains or binders, which includes throwing straps, to secure loads on trailer during transit.
  • Loads or unloads, or assists in loading and unloading truck. Services and maintains truck with oil, fuel, and radiator fluid.
  • Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. 
  • Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor.
  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Must perform a minimum of 3 safety engagement activities per week. May be required to train other employees as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.  May be required to be used as Yard Driver in case of emergencies.
  • Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.

 

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

  • Requires one to two years’ related experience and/or training.
  • A valid Class A CDL.
  • Must be able to pass Lamb Weston’s vehicle driving test.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in the operation of truck equipment, including its design, uses, emergency repair, and maintenance.
  • Performs routine maintenance on equipment and determines when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Ability to complete assigned duties with minimal supervision.
