Position: R&D chemist- Industrial CoatingsExperience: Minimum 4–5 years in paint formulation development for industrial applicationsLocation: ChennaiCompensation: Salary as per industrial standardsKey Responsibilities- Develop and optimize paint formulations in epoxy, polyurethane (PU), and alkyd systems for industrial protective coatings applications.- Conduct laboratory-scale trials, batch preparation, and scale-up studies ensuring consistency and performance.- Carry out detailed quality control (QC) testing using lab instruments (viscosity, gloss, adhesion, impact, chemical resistance, etc.).- Ensure compliance with ISO 12944 and other relevant international standards in product development.- Work closely with production, application, and sales teams to provide technical expertise and take inputs on product usage and customer requirements.- Document formulations, testing protocols, and maintain records of R&D projects for knowledge management.Required Qualifications & Skills- Education: B.Tech in Polymeric Chemistry (preferred) or Chemical Engineering.- Minimum 4–5 years of hands-on experience in industrial paint/coating formulation/development in reputed paint or coatings companies.- Languages: Proficiency in English (verbal & written) and Hindi; knowledge of a regional language will be an advantage.- Computer Skills: Basic knowledge with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).- Strong practical knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and testing methodologies.- Proven understanding of raw materials, resin systems, pigments, and additives used in epoxy, PU, and alkyd coatings.- Exposure to field trials and end-user performance evaluation.- Familiarity with international standards like ASTM, DIN etc.. and protective coating system requirements.- Good documentation, reporting, and problem-solving skills.Personal Attributes- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.- Self-motivated and capable of working independently on projects.- Strong team player with ability to collaborate across R&D, production, and commercial teams.- Result-driven, innovative mindset, and committed to continuous improvement.
