Key Responsibilities include overseeing the post-fixture operations of tanker vessels on both time and voyage charters, ensuring vessels are in compliance with the respective charter parties and associated rider clauses. You will also ensure the timely submission of charter hire invoices, freight invoices, bunker reimbursement invoices, and demurrage invoices to charterers and/or brokers, while following up as necessary. Additionally, you will manage charter hire or demurrage claims from charterers, pursuing receivables after addressing these claims.
You will maintain and analyze records of off-hires and breakdowns, collaborating with the technical team to implement mitigating measures aimed at preventing future claims. Planning and coordinating bunkering operations will be part of your responsibilities, working closely with the bunkering desk to ensure vessels are supplied with the necessary fuel.
The role will also require you to select and appoint agencies, while approving agents' PDA and FDA for payments. You will ensure vessels are adequately covered with insurance policies as per the voyage fixture, liaising with the vessel's PNI club to manage Letters of Indemnity (LOIs), Letters of Undertaking (LOUs), and third-party claims when necessary. Furthermore, you will be responsible for obtaining vessel clearance from terminals and charterers, providing clarifications and implementing preventive or corrective actions as needed.
You will conduct regular inspections of fleet vessels to ensure they meet regulatory, company, and industry standards, and vet all vessels by submitting inspection requests, updating the HVPQ and crew matrix on the SIRE website, preparing vessels for vetting inspections, and attending inspections. Additionally, you will inspect prospective vessels for purchase, submitting detailed inspection reports and negotiating the terms of acquisition.
The role also involves conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with the company’s Safety Management System, initiating gap analysis for the TMSA rating of the company, and monitoring the performance of technical managers regarding operating expenses. You will implement cost control measures as necessary to ensure the budget is adhered to. You will oversee the daily operations of vessels, managing spare parts, bunkers, lubes, crewing, and budgeting, ensuring smooth operations.
Investigating and analyzing breakdowns and off-hires, you will work with managers to implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. You will also manage insurance-related aspects of the vessels, including PNI club, Hull, and Machinery cover. In addition, you will be involved in inspecting vessels for potential purchase, negotiating terms for the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), and completing the formalities for class and flag entry upon acquisition.
You will organize and lead meetings with vendors, including suppliers, workshops, OEMs, and bunker and lube traders, to negotiate competitive rates for their services. You will focus on the business development aspects of the company, including new takeovers and positioning the company as an emerging player in the Indian market. Efficient liaison with principals, vessel masters, cargo receivers, port officials, and local agency offices will be crucial to ensuring the quick turnaround of vessels at various Indian ports.
Lastly, you will be responsible for conducting interviews and selecting Masters and Chief Officers for the vessels under your charge.
Requirements:
Seagoing experience as a Master on FG LPG vessels for a min of 12 months
Familiar with international and local maritime regulations and requirements.
Strong sense of integrity and professionalism.
Excellent leadership, teamwork, management and communication skills.
Able to motivate and inspire people
