The Azure Cloud Hardware Infrastructure division (SCHIE) is responsible for Firmware design and development of Server and Rack Infrastructure Firmware for Microsoft Online Services.

As a Cloud Firmware Deployment engineer, you will work in distributed frameworks that scale the entire azure cloud infrastructure. You will develop new firmware deployment agents, scale, monitor and improve velocity of deployments. You will be key in building a reliable and security Cloud infrastructure. 

Qualifications

Required experience: 

Masters or bachelor’s required in Computer Engineering or Computer Science desired or other degrees wit proficiency in Software development & Distributed Systems 5+ years of hands-on coding experience required in any OOP language ( code development, debug, and test )  Experience in distributed / cloud services  Experience with designing and developing cloud services (preferably on Azure), monitoring and live site Self-motivated individual must be able work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment and across the team of engineers.
Monitoring and Debugging, System Design on large Scale, python, devops tools and practices, Jenkins,AzDo, Gitlab. Exposure to event driven async systems, message queue framework and systems design.

Preferred experience: 

Web API services infrastructure (RESTful API), Microservices Familiarity with Orchestration Managers, Anvil Working knowledge in SQL, Kusto, Python or Powershell scripting languages Familiarity with Azure services like storage, networking, Service Fabric, Cosmos DB, Event Hubs  High tolerance to ambiguity and ability make progress when situations are in flux. Passion for improving and streamlining the engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to develop and operate services efficiently. Having worked in Cloud infrastructure orchestration and deployment is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

Define system architecture and specifications for cutting edge features related to server infrastructure management.  Work with existing and new Cloud infrastructure API/frameworks(Distributed Systems) and development new Agents to orchestrate, accelerate firmware deployments to the azure infrastructure.  Participate in all stages of product from development, deployment and monitoring to debugging fleet/LiveSite issues.  Provide technical leadership and guidance to internal developers or external partners to deliver serviceable, reliable, and scalable solutions.  Stress on modular design and code reuse to achieve maintainability.  Collaborate with internal and external teams to find solutions that are leverageable across multiple architectures and generations.  Contribute to product vision and roadmap by bringing innovation to server manageability ecosystem.
