DevOps Engineer

A DevOps (Development and Operations) engineer plays a crucial role in the software development lifecycle by bridging the gap between development and operations teams. The primary goal of a DevOps engineer is to enhance collaboration, communication, and efficiency within an organisation to deliver high-quality software products. Here's a typical job description for a DevOps engineer:

The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated deployment and infrastructure management processes. The DevOps Engineer will also focus on optimising system performance, ensuring reliability, and implementing security best practices.

Responsibilities :

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) :

- Assist in developing and maintaining infrastructure using IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible.

- Work with senior team members to automate deployment processes.

Container orchestration :

- Have solid understanding and experience to manage kubernetes pods and autoscaling

- Have hands on across different cloud for kubernetes management: GCP, Azure , AWS

Version Control :

- Collaborate with development teams on version control practices using Git.

- Manage code repositories and assist in branch management.

Automation :

- Begin automating routine tasks using scripting languages like Bash or Python.

- Support the implementation of automation tools for build, deployment, and monitoring.

CI/CD :

- Learn and contribute to the implementation of CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI.

- Assist in setting up and maintaining continuous integration and deployment workflows.

Monitoring and Logging :

- Participate in the configuration and management of monitoring tools.

- Gain exposure to logging systems to track application and infrastructure performance.

Collaboration :

- Work closely with development and operations teams to facilitate communication and collaboration.

- Participate in cross-functional teams to address challenges in the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications :

- 0-1 years of experience in DevOps or respective fields.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Basic understanding of DevOps principles and practices.

- Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git.

- Exposure to scripting languages such as Bash or Python.

- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Required Skills :

- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

- Have passion to work or have already worked on multi TB scale of Data and have understanding of databases - ElasticSearch, MongoDB, Redis etc

- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

- Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment concepts.

- Basic understanding of networking principles.
