An EEG technician performs diagnostic brain tests called electroencephalograms (EEGs) by placing electrodes on a patient's scalp, operating specialized equipment to record brainwave activity, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and documenting the results. They work under the supervision of neurologists or other physicians and are responsible for preparing the equipment and the patient, monitoring the test, recognizing abnormalities, and maintaining the machinery and the work area.
