Technical Architect

The Solution Architect is a cornerstone in our Digital Architecture Delivery team, bringing the latest technical thought leadership and technical/design skills to lead cutting-edge solution design/development to align with business objectives. In this pivotal role, you'll evaluate and advocate for reusable platform components and products, designing scalable and robust design patterns. Your remit includes technical design review of critical components and establishing best practices across development teams. You will partner with internal and external teams, ensuring the cost-effective development of solutions.

Responsibilities may include:

• Strategic and Technical Delivery
• Support team members in developing and maintaining the technology frameworks and re-usable components for one or more portfolios & guide refactoring of solutions to align towards modern application architectures and AWS-based systems.
• Evaluate technology platforms and products and make recommendations that align with business goals and enterprise/portfolio technical direction. Evaluation could potentially include RFI/RFP, running hands-on or vendor-led POC efforts, assessing the solution’s fit within our technology landscape & meeting functional / non-functional requirements.
• Innovate and design for enterprise-level and portfolio-level reusable components/libraries that encompass well-defined "technical capabilities" and “functional capabilities” developed and tested in a robust manner to support re-use across different applications with varying levels of NFRs and business criticality.
• Conduct both technical and non-technical risk assessments on application health, cost, performance, security, etc., and lead the remediation efforts by addressing the gaps and providing actionable insights to application development teams for improvements to the system architecture, tech stack, design approach, implementation, and/or testing techniques. Ensure governance in corporate security measures and tech debt management across systems within the portfolio.
• Analyze and identify opportunities for cloud cost optimization and promote cost-saving measures.
• Conduct technology research for new cloud services and industry development to stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry changes; present/share knowledge about these findings with enterprise teams and application teams.
• Lead or co-lead the creation and enforcement of enterprise-level or portfolio-level technology standards and SDLC standards to improve consistency and quality across projects.
• Create and present technical materials, such as "How-To's" and best practices for development and operational support and quality control checklists to aid application teams and their software development efforts.
• Collaborate with SMEs and App Architects to develop incident response procedures/playbooks and potentially support App teams in high-risk or high-impact incident analysis and remediation.
• Project Delivery
• Create and maintain comprehensive Solution architecture documents (SADs), ensuring they are updated with the latest changes as the project progresses sprint by sprint.
• Identify NFRs and design solutions for NFRs and other key concerns such as technical maintainability, operational reliability, cross-region disaster recoverability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Incorporate enterprise direction such as “API first” / “Cloud first”, architecture and software design/development principles such as SOLID, 12-factor design in supporting project team create a detailed technical design for projects, working closely with technology managers/project managers, development scrum teams and cross-functional architects/SMEs.
• Define the back-end architectural strategy and framework for complex enterprise applications, with expertise in designing the back-end integration, business logic, and data layers of AWS cloud-native-based applications including the use of different architectures such as event-driven architecture.
• Possesses strong expertise in Node.js SpringBoot and NoSQL DB for designing and implementing solutions based on AWS cloud-native and hybrid architectures. Additional bonus for knowledge of GraphQL-based API design/development.
• Capable of designing and implementing different types of API-based & messaging frameworks-based integrations and business logic layers with common, reusable libraries for data access, events, security, and reporting use cases.
• Design & implement cloud-native and/or hybrid solutions with a specific focus on securing access to the application’s user interfaces, APIs, and infrastructure using technologies such as OAuth, SAML, AWS IAM, role-based access control, etc.
• Design & implement integrations between cloud-native and hybrid systems using appropriate enterprise integration patterns and best practices accounting for security, performance, and other non-functional requirements.
• Design & implement cloud-native and/or hybrid infrastructure solutions with specific considerations on compute, load balancing, HA/DR, & storage architectures for high-volume web apps. Proficient in designing AWS-specific infrastructure solutions using a wide range of services including Route 53, CloudFront, WAF, API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, EKS, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, ELB, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, Amazon Connect, SQS, etc.
• Guide teams in the design/implementation of automated unit testing & NFR testing and other SDLC practices.
• Proficient in using different security protocols and patterns such as oAuth for integration layer security including the ability to design fine-grained access control frameworks for APIs and data layers of the overall application architecture.
• Have a comprehensive understanding of system components such as platforms, databases, APIs, caching layers, proxies, and other web services as well as architecture patterns such as event-driven architectures.
• Conduct design reviews, code reviews, etc. to ensure project adherence to established architectural standards and guidelines as well as various enterprise standards for data security/privacy, application/cloud security, etc.
• Added bonus for candidates with AWS Certification(s): AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional. And knowledge in data modeling and design of databases using both relational and NoSQL DBMS platforms.
