Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in SQL database management with strong expertise in query optimization, proactive system monitoring, and experience with a variety of database technologies. As an SQL DBA, you will be responsible for maintaining the performance, integrity, and security of our SQL databases while working closely with our development team to identify and resolve performance issues and optimize queries across multiple database platforms.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Query Optimization: Regularly analyze and optimize SQL queries across various database platforms to enhance performance. Provide recommendations for query improvements and implement solutions to optimize database performance.
  • System Monitoring: Continuously monitor production systems, including SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and other databases, to ensure their availability and performance. Use monitoring tools to detect and resolve potential issues before they impact end-users.
  • Performance Tuning: Proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks in the database environment. Apply best practices for database tuning across different database technologies to maintain high performance.
  • Collaboration with Development Team: Work closely with the development team to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to database queries. Provide guidance and support for optimizing queries and improving database interactions in a multi-database environment.
  • Database Maintenance: Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and patch management. Ensure that all database systems are up-to-date with the latest security patches.
  • Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including those related to performance, data integrity, and system availability. Ensure minimal downtime and impact on business operations.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation for database configurations, procedures, and changes. Document all query optimization efforts and performance improvements.
  • Compliance and Security: Ensure that database systems comply with industry standards and security regulations. Implement and enforce data security measures to protect sensitive information.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator with a strong focus on query optimization and performance tuning. Experience with other database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL Server and related tools (e.g., SSMS, Profiler). Solid understanding of indexing, query execution plans, and performance metrics. Experience with other databases and their respective management tools.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues effectively.
  • Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with development teams and other stakeholders.
  • Monitoring Tools: Experience with database monitoring tools and techniques to proactively manage and optimize database performance.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, etc.) are a plus.
  • Experience Level: 3-5 years of experience in SQL database administration and query optimization, including experience with multiple database technologies.


Preferred Qualifications :

  • Advanced Knowledge: Experience with cloud-based SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Azure SQL Database, MongoDB) and familiarity with database technologies beyond traditional SQL Server.
