Position Overview:

The ICT Lab Assistant will support the smooth operation and maintenance of the Information and Communication Technology labs, ensuring that students, faculty, and staff have access to necessary resources and a well-maintained environment for learning and research. The assistant will help in the setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of ICT equipment, assist with lab activities, and provide general support for the smooth functioning of the lab.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lab Maintenance:

  • Ensure all lab equipment, including computers, projectors, printers, and other ICT devices, are functioning properly.

  • Install, configure, and maintain software and hardware in the lab.
  • Perform routine checks and upgrades on all ICT systems and devices.

  • User Support:

  • Provide assistance to students and faculty using the lab facilities.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor technical issues with hardware or software.
  • Provide technical assistance during classes, workshops, or practical sessions.

  • Lab Setup:

  • Set up and prepare lab spaces for scheduled classes and workshops.

  • Ensure that all equipment and materials required for practical sessions are ready and accessible.

  • Inventory Management:

  • Track and maintain an inventory of lab equipment and software.

  • Assist in ordering new equipment or supplies as needed.

  • Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of lab maintenance, repairs, and usage.

  • Prepare reports on lab activities and usage for the supervisor or manager.

  • Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow health, safety, and security guidelines when handling equipment.

  • Ensure that the lab complies with all relevant regulations and standards.

  • Training and Guidance:

  • Assist in providing basic training to students and staff on the use of ICT tools and equipment.

  • Offer guidance in using the lab for academic projects or research.
Qualifications:

  • Education:

  • A diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience:

  • Experience in a computer lab or technical support role is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with common ICT hardware and software used in educational or corporate environments.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS).

  • Basic knowledge of networking, troubleshooting, and hardware components.
  • Familiarity with software tools for educational purposes (e.g., Office Suite, programming languages, design tools).

  • Personal Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
