Job Title: MQ Engineer

Job Summary

Looking for a talented MQ Engineer to manage and optimize our messaging infrastructure. The role involves the design, configuration, and support of IBM MQ and related middleware, which are critical for seamless inter-application communication. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with IBM MQ, a strong understanding of messaging protocols, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

- IBM MQ Administration: Configure, manage, and troubleshoot IBM MQ queues, channels, and listeners to ensure stable and efficient communication.- Performance Optimization: Monitor and fine-tune MQ environments to meet performance, latency, and throughput requirements.- Integration Support: Work closely with application and infrastructure teams to integrate MQ solutions with various applications and databases.- Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce MQ security standards, including SSL/TLS configurations and access control.- Incident and Problem Management: Quickly diagnose, resolve, and document messaging issues, and work on root-cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.- Automation and Scripting: Develop automation scripts for deployment, configuration, and monitoring to improve operational efficiency.- Disaster Recovery: Assist in creating and testing disaster recovery procedures for MQ environments.- Documentation: Maintain clear and detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and best practices.

Required Skills

- IBM MQ: In-depth knowledge of IBM MQ administration, including queue manager setup, channel configuration, and message persistence.- Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Shell, or PowerShell for automation.- Troubleshooting: Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues within complex MQ environments.- Security: Knowledge of MQ security concepts, such as SSL/TLS, encryption, and authentication.- Middleware Experience: Familiarity with middleware components, including other messaging tools like RabbitMQ, Kafka, or ActiveMQ.- Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud-based MQ deployments (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.- Certification in IBM MQ or other middleware technologies is a plus.- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools for automated deployments.- Knowledge of containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) for MQ deployments.
