Job Responsibilities -

Product specifications for building materials are important for ensuring the quality of a construction project and can include responsibilities such as:

  • Defining materials: Clearly defining the materials and manufacturers' products that will be used in the project
  • Specifying quality: Identifying the quality and standards to be applied to the materials
  • Outlining performance: Specifying the performance of the project and what the final product will be capable of
  • Identifying requirements: Identifying the requirements for installation, testing, and handover
  • Balancing cost and quality: Balancing the cost of materials with the quality they provide
  • Ensuring compliance: Ensuring that materials comply with building codes and regulations
  • Providing information: Providing clear and concise information to save time and money for the project team, client, and contractor
  • Managing project scope: Establishing scope boundaries to manage project costs and resources
  • Testing and inspection: Ensuring compliance with specifications through testing and inspection of materials and workmanship
