In this role, you will make a strategic impact across multiple teams and technologies both as an individual contributor and by growing other Engineers. You will play a key part in shaping the future of our global Kubernetes platform by providing hands-on technical expertise to design, deploy, and optimise our infrastructure in a secure and cost-effective way. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Cloud Native technologies as well as the ability to deliver complex Platform Engineering initiatives from inception through to global rollout.About Enterprise ArchiveThe Fabric Cloud Runtime team are primarily responsible for our Kubernetes infrastructure in AWS, delivering the foundational platform that underpins our applications. Our mission is to accelerate Developer innovation by empowering teams with intelligent, scalable, self-service tools, enabling them to build the future without being constrained by infrastructure complexity. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the future of our API-first platform by providing hands-on technical expertise to design, deploy, and optimize our infrastructure.Key Responsibilities:- Design, build and operate production-grade infrastructure in AWS.- Be an individual contributor to our platform codebase, raising the bar in terms of quality, security, and reliability. Create documentation and debug complex distributed systems.- Deliver robust pipelines to safely manage infrastructure at scale and automate workflows.- Operational excellence – respond to incidents and participate in an 24/7 365 Engineering on-call rotation.- Collaborate with Application Engineering teams to champion best practices, improve onboarding and accelerate delivery. Influence the technical roadmap across Engineering, to deliver high impact outcomes.- Mentor junior Engineers, to actively support their development.Experience & Qualifications- Effective communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to driving team success.- Deep technical expertise in AWS cloud architecture and managing Kubernetes platforms at scale, including cluster lifecycle management, and managing Service Meshes such as Istio.- Demonstrated experience of delivering complex Platform Engineering initiatives from inception through to global rollout.- Experience with Terraform for managing and provisioning infrastructure, with a strong focus on DevOps processes.- Proficiency in a programming language such as Go, Python, Java, or similar.- A demonstrated eagerness to continuously learn and grow in a dynamic environment.- Familiarity with system monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).Preferred- B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent professional experience).- 5+ years' experience working on cloud platforms including AWS Cloud, Istio Service Mesh, Kubernetes (EKS), Terraform and ArgoCD.- Advanced AWS Expertise: Deep familiarity with AWS services, architectures, and pricing models.
