We are seeking an experienced AWS Engineer with 2-3 years of hands-on experience in deploying and managing cloud applications using AWS Elastic Beanstalk and Terraform . The ideal candidate should have strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues across AWS infrastructure and applications. This role involves automating infrastructure, managing deployments, and ensuring high availability and scalability of cloud-based applications. You’ll also be responsible for optimizing performance, managing costs, and troubleshooting any issues that arise in production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Elastic Beanstalk Management:
  • Deploy and manage applications on AWS Elastic Beanstalk , configuring environments for production and staging deployments.
  • Monitor, scale, and troubleshoot Elastic Beanstalk environments, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
  • Integrate Elastic Beanstalk with other AWS services such as RDS, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM.
  • Implement best practices for continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) for Elastic Beanstalk applications.
  • Terraform Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
  • Use Terraform to automate the provisioning of AWS resources, including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, Lambda, and more.
  • Develop and manage reusable Terraform modules for efficient infrastructure deployment.
  • Ensure Terraform scripts are version-controlled and follow proper change management procedures.
  • Work with teams to enhance Terraform infrastructure pipelines and improve scalability and security.
  • Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Elastic Beanstalk deployment issues, such as environment configuration errors, application errors, and scaling issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks in AWS environments, whether in the infrastructure or the application layer.
  • Use AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and Elastic Beanstalk logs to debug and pinpoint issues in production environments.
  • Work with developers and other stakeholders to identify root causes of issues and implement fixes in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring & Optimization:
  • Set up monitoring, alerts, and auto-scaling for Elastic Beanstalk applications and underlying AWS resources using CloudWatch.
  • Regularly review and optimize Terraform configurations for cost efficiency and performance.
  • Use AWS Cost Explorer and Trusted Advisor to optimize cloud infrastructure costs and ensure efficient resource usage.
  • Security & Compliance:
  • Enforce security best practices in Terraform configurations, including least privilege IAM roles, encryption, and network security.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with internal and external security standards (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Collaboration & Documentation:
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure smooth deployments and integration with other cloud services.
  • Document deployment processes, troubleshooting steps, and infrastructure configurations for internal teams.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing through internal training, blogs, and presentations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience:
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience working with AWS Elastic Beanstalk and Terraform for deploying and managing cloud applications.
  • AWS Services Knowledge:
  • Proficiency with key AWS services such as EC2 , S3 , VPC , IAM , RDS , CloudWatch , Lambda , and others used in conjunction with Elastic Beanstalk.
  • Terraform Expertise:
  • Strong experience using Terraform to provision AWS infrastructure, write modules, manage state, and apply configurations.
  • Troubleshooting Skills:
  • Experience troubleshooting deployment failures, performance issues, and errors in Elastic Beanstalk environments. Ability to analyze and interpret logs from CloudWatch, Elastic Beanstalk logs, and application logs to resolve issues efficiently.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Integration:
  • Experience integrating Elastic Beanstalk with CI/CD pipelines (using Jenkins, GitLab, or AWS CodePipeline) to automate application deployments.
  • Cloud Security Practices:
  • Solid understanding of AWS security practices , including IAM, encryption, and network security configurations.
  • Scripting & Automation:
  • Experience writing scripts (Bash, Python) to automate tasks, deployments, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Version Control & Collaboration:
  • Familiarity with Git and collaboration tools like GitHub or GitLab, especially in a DevOps environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certifications:
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or AWS Certified Developer – Associate.
  • Experience with Containerization:
  • Experience with Docker , ECS , or EKS to deploy containerized applications, alongside or integrated with Elastic Beanstalk.
  • DevOps Practices:
  • Experience working within a DevOps framework, with knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices for continuous delivery and automated testing.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting Skills:
  • Experience with advanced troubleshooting for distributed systems and multi-tier architectures.
