Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Surveyor with a strong background as a Master Mariner to join our team in Amsterdam. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role and possess deep knowledge of maritime regulations, safety standards, and operational efficiency. This position requires a professional who is adept at conducting thorough inspections, audits, and optimizing vessel voyages to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Flag State Inspections: Conduct comprehensive Flag State inspections, ensuring vessels comply with all applicable national and international maritime regulations.
- ISM, ISPS, MLC Audits: Perform detailed audits in line with the International Safety Management (ISM) Code, International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, and Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) standards. Identify non-conformities and provide corrective actions to maintain and enhance vessel compliance.
- Voyage Optimization: Utilize your maritime expertise to optimize vessel voyages, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance. Provide recommendations to improve fuel efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Compliance and Safety Assurance: Ensure vessels under survey meet all statutory and class requirements. Provide guidance on maritime safety, security, and labor conditions, and ensure vessels operate within the framework of relevant legislation.
- Report Preparation: Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely reports of inspections, audits, and surveys. Clearly communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments and provide mitigation strategies to minimize potential hazards associated with marine operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience as a Master Mariner with additional experience in marine surveying or a similar role.
- Certifications: Valid certifications relevant to Flag State inspections, ISM, ISPS, and MLC audits.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of maritime laws, regulations, and international conventions (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, etc.).
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and provide effective solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
- Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in inspections, audits, and reporting.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with voyage optimization tools and software, as well as general proficiency in using MS Office and other relevant software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in working with diverse fleets and different types of vessels.
- Additional certifications in risk management or environmental compliance.
- Experience in conducting training or workshops related to maritime safety and compliance.
