About The Role


IT Database Administrator

Experience: 5 - 10 yrs

Location : Pune (On site)


Job Summary

Design, deploy, maintain, manage, tune, and troubleshoot the Microsoft SQL servers and database components that are hosted on-premises and in the cloud (IaaS/PaaS). Install and upgrade MS SQL (Windows-based systems and servers), managing access to the servers, and maintaining the security and stability of the MS SQL Server infrastructure.


Major Responsibilities:


Operational Work:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve SQL Server system/database issues, ensuring root cause analysis and future mitigation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendor partners to provide timely, efficient support.
  • Manage day-to-day SQL operations, including servers, services, security, and applying patches.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and handle escalations for MS SQL services.

Architect/Design Work:

  • Collect business/technical requirements and design enterprise-specific solutions for Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure.
  • Scope, plan, and implement maintenance, upgrades, performance tuning, and migrations for global environments.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Create/maintain documentation of SQL environments, processes, and licensing.
  • Ensure alignment with PAC policies and support audits for SQL Server areas.

Knowledge & Requirements:

  • Expertise in architecting and supporting global SQL Server infrastructures with High Availability.
  • Proficient in scripting (PowerShell, T-SQL) and familiar with VMware and Azure SQL solutions.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or Microsoft SQL certifications.
  • 5+ years as a Microsoft SQL Server database administrator (SQL Server 2012 and later).
  • 2+ years in Azure SQL database operations preferred.
  • 5+ years in large enterprise distributed computing environments.
  • Additional relevant certifications, especially in Microsoft Windows Server support, are a plus.
