Further, he will develop, recommend, and implement strategic and tactical ways of various operational possibilities to maximize potential. The Mining Engineer is accountable for meeting quantity targets and advising the time frame by reporting to the direct manager. The person who holds this position will be responsible for tracking suitable sources, doing necessary studies, initiating, traveling, communicating, managing, and executing till the completion of the deal end-to-end in association with key team members who will also be managing the operations under him.



Freight management, vessel chartering, assigning personnel, local transportation, appointing agents, the release of purchase orders to forwarders/sub-contractors, etc., providing delivery orders and getting acknowledgments from the end users, coordination with sub-contractors, knowledge on time plans, project charters, etc. shall be key advantages under the responsibilities of Mining Engineer. Mining Engineers work in mining and mineral extraction facilities. He will be in charge of coordinating and supervising all the activities in the mine regarding digging, extracting, and transporting minerals out of the mine. Work may be office-based, on-site, or a combination of both.


Responsibilities

Essential functions of the job include:

- Conducts research to determine the location and methods of extracting minerals, such as metallic ores, and

 nonmetallic substances, such as stone, Barite, and Bentonite minerals, mainly Barite.

- Conducts or collaborates in geological exploration, and reviews maps and drilling logs to determine the

 location, size, accessibility, and estimated mineral deposit value.

- Determines methods to extract minerals, considering factors such as safety, operational costs, deposit

 characteristics, overburden depth, and surrounding strata.

- Plans, recommends, and coordinates mining process, type, and capacity of haulage equipment, such as power

 shovels and trucks, and labor utilization.

- Lay out and direct mine construction operations, such as location and development of shafts, tunnels,

 chambers, position of excavation benches, and access roads.

- Designs, implements, and monitors facility projects, such as water and power supply, ventilation system, rock-

 dust and radon gas control, drainage, rail and conveyor systems, and material cleaning, grading, and reduction

 systems.

- May devise methods and locations to store and replace excavated soil to reclaim mine sites.

- May analyze labor requirements, equipment needs, and operational costs to compute and prepare annual

 budget reports.

- May apply knowledge of mining engineering to solve problems related to the environment.

- Assessing the commercial viability of new mining ventures

- Undertaking feasibility studies.

- Modeling or designing potential mine sites.

- Preparing plans for mines, such as underground tunnels and shafts.

- Working with specialist software to support planning programs.

- Overseeing major construction projects and ensuring that operations run smoothly.

- Monitoring activities underground.

- Overseeing staff activities, either in one site section or throughout an entire mine.

- Ensuring the safety of mining equipment and assessing mine equipment supplies.

- Establishing extraction systems.

- Overseeing the health and safety of the site, particularly concerning issues such as ventilation.

- Planning for transition from surface to underground mining operations.

- Providing consultancy and advice on mining and mineral extraction projects.

- Filling in disused mine shafts.

- Reclaiming mine sites.

- Managing monthly budgets and keeping detailed records.

- Make sure mining operations are carried out in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner

- Conduct feasibility studies and environmental assessments, weighing up the commercial advantages and

 evaluating any issues relating to sustainability

- Once this process is complete, manage all of the technical planning activities, using complex computer

 software to model mine sites, and plan everything vital to the construction of a mine.

- Then oversee the construction process and manage the technical aspects of production once the pit is open

 for business.



Qualifications:



- Engineering / Post Graduate / Doctorate Degree, preferably in Economics, Geology, Mining Operation,

 Metallurgy, Mine Design, environmental reclamation, or Mining Engineering will be added value.

 (Qualifications preferred: Civil engineering, Geology, Mine and Quarry Engineering, Minerals surveying, Mining

 and Mineral Engineering)

- Geology, physics, chemistry, environmental studies, mathematics, and economics are the fundamentals

 of mining engineering studies. Coursework can include rock fragmentation and

 mechanics, mine design, mine ventilation, surveying, mineral processing, and resource law.

- Minimum 5 years experience in dealing with a similar background.

- High level of communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.

- Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines

- Strategic thinker with an ability to define processes and implement them at the customer level

- At ease with financial concepts, logistics management, and with figures.

- Computer proficiency

- Team leadership/management, confidence, problem-solving and analytical skills, organization and efficiency,

 independence, strong technical skills, teamwork skills, managerial and interpersonal skills, and IT skills.
