Job Description
Job Title: Head of Production (Oil & Gas)
Location: Abuja
Job summary: Our client, an oil and gas company, is looking to hire a Head of Production. The ideal
candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of production processes, and a
proven track record in managing large-scale operations within the oil and gas sector. This role will
involve overseeing all aspects of production, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry
standards.
 
Requirements Key Responsibilities  Oversee and manage the daily operations of the production department, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.
Develop and implement strategies to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and maximize output.
Ensure all production activities adhere to safety regulations and industry standards, promoting aculture of safety within the team. Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure the highest standards of product quality.
Lead and mentor a team of production managers, engineers, and operators, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Develop and manage the production budget, monitoring expenditures and ensuring cost-effective operations. Oversee large-scale production projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project specifications.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative solutions to enhance production capabilities.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and prepare regular reports for senior management and stakeholders.
Optimize the use of resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to achieve production goals. Oversee the maintenance of production equipment, ensuring reliability and minimal downtime. Identify and mitigate production risks, developing contingency plans to address potential issues.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of Bsc in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields. Masters’ degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a strong background in production management.
  • Extensive knowledge of production processes, equipment, and technologies specific to the oil and gas sector.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of safety regulations and best practices in production environments.
  • Experience in managing large-scale production projects, with strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Experience in developing and managing production budgets, with a focus on cost control.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance requirements.
