Role Overview

Lead SMGC's fundraising efforts across HNIs/Family Offices, Corporate/CSR, Foundations (India & international), and digital/community giving delivering predictable, diversified funding and lifetime donor value while strengthening SMGC's brand as a thought leader.

What You'll Lead

1.Strategy & implementation

  • Build a 3-year fundraising strategy with targets by segment (HNI, Corporate/CSR, PSU, Foundation, Multilateral, Digital) and by program (Ignite/Impact/Inspire).
  • Own the full donor lifecycle: research → qualification → cultivation → solicitation → stewardship → renewal/upgrade.
  • Design multi-year giving vehicles (anchor gifts, challenge funds, catalytic grants, cause marketing, events, peer-to-peer).
  • Create a balanced pipeline (early/mid/late stage)

2.Partnerships & External Relations

  • Represent SMGC with credibility; walk into any room and build trust with diverse stakeholders.
  • Secure strategic MOUs with corporations (CSR & brand), foundations, and high-influence networks in India and abroad.
  • Co-create bespoke propositions (naming opportunities, programmatic investments, research/endowment funds).

3.Brand & Communications (for Fundraising Outcomes)

  • Partner with Comms to run an integrated brand + fundraising calendar (reports, campaigns etc.).
  • Oversee investment-grade proposals, decks, impact reports; ensure crisp narratives and strong evidence.
  • Build crisis-ready messaging and success-story pipelines that convert interest to commitments.

4.Team, Systems & Governance

  • Lead fundraising efforts across the organization
  • Collaborate with the global teams 
  • Implement a CRM or DMS (Salesforce/Zoho or equivalent)
  • Establish clear SOPs, approval matrices, and data hygiene.
  • Ensure compliance with Indian and international requirements (e.g., FCRA, CSR-1, 12A/80G, anti-bribery, privacy).
  • Uphold child safeguarding and ethical fundraising standards.

5.Budgeting, Reporting & KPIs

  • Own the fund development budget; track ROI by channel.
  • Provide monthly board-ready dashboards: funds raised vs target, pipeline health, donor retention/upgrade

What Success Looks Like

By Day 90

  • Board-approved 3-year strategy and year-1 operating plan with segment-wise targets.
  • Live CRM with X number of qualified prospects (target to be set with leadership).

By Day 180

  • ₹ X crore in signed or near-close commitments (target to be set with leadership); at least one anchor gift or equivalent multi-year grant.
  • Two corporate/CSR partnerships with multi-year potential; one international foundation
  • Create a clear donor reporting plan with personalized journeys

Annual KPIs

  • Total funds raised vs plan
  • Renewal rate (≥70% by value for renewable donors); upgrade rate (≥20%).
  • Others as discussed with leadership

Qualifications

  • Master's in Marketing/Business/Communications or related; fundraising certifications a plus.
  • 8–10+ years of direct fundraising with a proven major-gifts and institutional track record (India & international).
  • Experience launching or scaling new initiatives (research, education, skill development, community empowerment preferred).
  • Strong grasp of donor management, digital marketing, brand positioning, and campaign/event orchestration.
  • Regulatory fluency and governance sensibility (FCRA, CSR, 12A/80G; safeguarding; data privacy).
  • Excellent written/oral communication; G-Suite & CRM proficiency.

Compensation

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and expertise.
