Delivery Director - Engineering

Role Overview:

The Delivery Director - Engineering is a senior leadership role responsible for the end-to-end delivery of all engineering projects and products. This position requires a seasoned leader who can manage large-scale technical teams, drive strategic initiatives, ensure project success, and maintain high standards of quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background combined with exceptional people and project management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the overall engineering delivery strategy. Translate business goals into technical objectives and project plans. Oversee the entire project portfolio to ensure alignment with company priorities.
  • Program & Project Management: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple, complex engineering projects. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Manage risks, resolve issues, and provide regular progress reports to executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership & Management: Build, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering teams. Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Conduct performance reviews, manage resource allocation, and support professional development for team members.
  • Process & Quality Improvement: Define and implement best practices for software development, project management, and quality assurance. Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and predictability in the delivery lifecycle. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Act as a key point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders regarding project status, technical challenges, and strategic direction. Build and maintain strong relationships to ensure client satisfaction and identify new business opportunities.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Manage the engineering delivery budget, including forecasting and tracking costs. Optimize resource allocation across projects to maximize productivity and achieve business objectives.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide high-level technical guidance and oversight on architectural decisions, technology stacks, and solution design to ensure scalability, reliability, and security of products.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or director-level role.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading the delivery of large-scale software products and projects.
  • Extensive experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and project management tools.
  • Strong technical background in software architecture, cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and modern development practices.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Experience in client-facing roles, with a focus on building and maintaining strong relationships.
