Battery Energy Storage System Design Lead

Role PurposeThe BESS Engineering team member will be responsible for the technical design, engineering, and integration of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across the company’s renewable energy portfolio. This role will drive technical due diligence, system architecture, vendor evaluation, detailed design, and support project execution from concept to commissioning, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective deployment of BESS projects.Qualifications & Experience- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering / Power Systems / Energy Systems (or related field).- 8 - 10 years of experience in renewable energy, with minimum 3 years in utility-scale BESS design and engineering.- Strong knowledge of battery technologies (Li-ion, LFP, NMC), PCS/EMS systems, and grid interconnection requirements.- Experience in hybrid project integration (Solar + BESS / Wind + BESS) is highly desirable.- Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD, ETAP, PSCAD, PVSyst) and MS Office.- Familiarity with safety standards (NFPA, NEC, IEC, IEEE) and grid codes.Key Skills & Competencies- Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.- Excellent stakeholder coordination and communication skills.- Ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.- Passion for clean energy and innovation.Why Join Us- Opportunity to shape the energy storage roadmap of a leading renewable IPP.- Exposure to cutting-edge technologies and large-scale projects.- Collaborative and growth-driven work culture.Roles and Responsibilities:Proposal EngineeringDecide on Optimal BESS configuration and Future augmentation of upcoming Projects.Conduct energy modeling, performance simulations, degradation assessments, and lifecycle analysis.Evaluate New Battery technologies.Prepare optimal BOM’s of BESS + it’s AC side equipment for cost estimateReview RTC energy Estimates and decide on BESS sizing, Configuration & BOMStrong knowledge of battery technologies (Li-ion, LFP, NMC), PCS/EMS systems, and grid interconnection requirements.Tender EngineeringGenerate BESS and it’s AC side BOS tender documents.Review and Evaluate Bids to prepare TER.Detailed EngineeringConclude detailed engg of awarded BESS packages in time.Organize meetings with the vendor / consultants at a common place to cut short delays.Detail Engineering of AC + DC side of BESS till 33kV, Layouts, PPC, PCS, Battery management System & auxiliary system engineering.Should be thoroughly aware of protection systems of AC+ DC side of BESS till 33kV.Engineering ManagerCoordinate will all the engineering functions to lead assigned projects.Optimize cost/Cost reductionValue based engineering. (Layout, Sizing optimization)Keep abreast with latest technological trends for better efficiency and Lower costing.
