JOBSUMMARY/PURPOSE

TheRegistered Nurse (RN) is accountable for utilizing the nursingprocess to provide safe ageappropriate direct and indirect patientcare while practicing within the scope of practice of the OregonState Board of Nursing.

DEPARTMENTDESCRIPTION

Themedicalsurgical unit specializes in the care of acutely ill adultsand those who require surgery both emergent and elective. MedicalSurgical patients are given the highest standards of professionalcare by registered nurses and nurse assistants. Specialtycertification in Medical Surgical Nursing is strongly encouragedand supported.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION

Experience:

• Previous rehabilitationtherapy experience preferred.

Licenses Certifications andRegistration:

• A Currentunencumbered Oregon RN license is required.
• Healthcare Provider Level BLS required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Social Perceptiveness: Ability to work with adiverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics. Basicunderstanding of agerelated differences in caring for and/orcommunicating with patients and caregivers. Possess personalsensitivity to the needs and experiences of others and anonjudgmental attitude towards persons of differing standardsvalues lifestyles and ages.
• Adaptability/Flexibility: Ability to respond quickly andappropriately to situations that may arise with highrisk or diversepatient populations. Ability to adjust actions about others andadapt to offer the best possible care to patients.
• Time Management: Ability to organize plan and prioritizework to complete within required time frames and to follow up onpending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneouslyand thrive in dynamic fastpaced environments and underpressure.
• Communication: Effective written andoral communication skills to explain complex issues exchangeinformation between team members and tactfully discussissues.
