Equipment Engineering, Cell Manufacturing - Li-ion Gigafactory


Position Overview:

We are seeking an Equipment Engineer to play a critical role in the development and maintenance of our cylindrical and prismatic lithium-ion battery cell production and testing facilities. This position requires close collaboration with plant suppliers, technical teams, and cross-functional partners to ensure smooth operations, process optimization, and continuous improvement in equipment performance. The ideal candidate will contribute to driving equipment reliability, efficiency, and innovation in cell manufacturing processes.


Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the seamless operation of manufacturing equipment for a designated production segment, including lift assists, jigs, fixtures, trolleys, and more.
  2. Maximize equipment efficiency and performance to maintain high-quality output standards.
  3. Continuously monitor and enhance production processes to boost operational effectiveness.
  4. Lead troubleshooting initiatives and implement sustainable solutions to equipment-related issues.
  5. Tailor equipment specifications and requirements based on product needs and production demands.
  6. Work closely with process, control, and manufacturing engineering teams, as well as other support teams, to ensure alignment on production objectives.
  7. Support the manufacturing engineering team during field construction and commissioning activities.
  8. Oversee projects aimed at optimizing production processes and facilities.


Requirements:

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. Relevant experience and demonstrated ability will also be considered.
  • Industry Experience : Background in a technology-driven industry that uses automated production techniques, such as packaging, filling, automotive, clean room, dry room, or chemical processing.
  • Operations Experience : Proven background in high-volume production with a focus on efficiency.
  • Mechanical & Equipment Skills :
  • Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks, Catia preferred) for designing equipment, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Skilled in mechanical assembly and fastener selection.
  • Experienced in introducing new equipment and processes.
  • Technical Knowledge : Strong grasp of automated systems—robotics, vision systems, conveyors, PLCs, HMIs.
  • Organizational Skills : Detail-oriented with excellent organizational ability.
  • Software Proficiency : Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Language : Fluent in English.
