We're seeking a talented and experienced Data Platform Engineer to join our team and play a key role in optimizing, maintaining, and evolving our data infrastructure.

You'll be responsible for ensuring our data pipelines run smoothly, efficiently, and cost-effectively, while contributing to a stable and exceptional user Pipeline Powerhouse: Streamline and optimize existing data pipelines and queries, while building new ones to meet evolving data needs.

- Cost Efficiency Champion: Prioritize minimizing operational costs by ensuring our data systems run efficiently and utilize resources effectively.

- Open Source Advocate: Contribute to the open-source community by making changes to the underlying systems we utilize.

- Customer Champion: Provide exceptional support to internal data consumers, addressing their technical needs and ensuring a seamless experience.

- On-Call Hero: Participate in on-call rotations to proactively identify and resolve any issues within our data platform.

- Stability Architect: Work collaboratively to maintain a highly reliable and stable data platform Proven Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Data Platform Engineer or similar role.

- Java Master: possess a strong command of Java programming, including object-oriented programming principles and best practices.

- Systems Savvy: Demonstrate a deep understanding of operating systems concepts, algorithms, and data structures.

- Spark/Presto Guru: Have experience in tuning and optimizing Spark and/or Presto workloads for performance and efficiency.

- Open Source Enthusiast: Familiarity with Spark/Presto source code and a passion for contributing to the open-source community (highly desirable).

- Distributed Systems Expert: Possess extensive experience in distributed systems, multithreaded programming, and concurrency control mechanisms.

- Testing Maestro: Demonstrate hands-on experience in creating unit, end-to-end, and performance/scale tests, utilizing debugging and profiling tools effectively.

- Cloud Adept: Have extensive experience working with a public cloud platform like AWS or GCP.

- Academic Background: Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Bonus Points:

- Experience working with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake)

- Experience with data streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Flink)

- Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices
