DESCRIPTION:The Underwriter will be responsible for assessing residential mortgage loans foradherence to investor criteria including but not limited to those criteria stipulated by thenationally recognized statistical rating organizations for third party review of residentialmortgage loans. This assessment will encompass aspects of data quality, credit decisioning,regulatory compliance, fraud screening, property valuations and servicing history.

DUTIES:Essential duties shall include but not necessarily be limited to:• Loan File Inventory: ensuring residential mortgage loan packages contain allnecessary documentation required to formulate a complete assessment.• Credit Review: assess all elements of the credit decisioning process undertakento approve the loan including underwriting guidelines, income calculation andvalidation of assets.• Fraud Review: review the credit package and related background search onmortgage loan borrowers to identify potential fraud risks.• Property Valuation Review: review appraisals and alternative value products forconformity to client specified requirements to assess accuracy of the propertyvaluation.• Legal Doc Review: assess all legal documents included in residential mortgageloan files to ensure proper execution, enforceability, and sufficiency for titleperfection.• Regulatory Compliance Review: gather regulatory compliance data elementsfrom the loan file for capture in the review system.• Servicing History Review: review the servicing history of residential mortgageloans by assessing payment histories and servicing commentary in a mannerconsistent with client requirements.• Credit Risk Grading: leveraging the utility of the review system,assess loan quality grades based on client specifications and standards set forthwithin applicable credit rating agency grading criteria.

QUALIFICATIONS:Required Education and Experience:•

The Candidate should have MSP experience.• Essential Skills: Essential to success in this role as a MortgageUnderwriter, the candidate must satisfy the following requirements:• Experience: minimum 3-8 years underwriting residential mortgage loans withdemonstrable proficiency in understanding underwriting guidelines and anunderstanding of mortgage loan regulatory compliance• Computer Skills: strong background with the use of computer programs used tomanufacture or review mortgage loans and standard knowledge of MicrosoftOffice product suite.Desirable Attributes:Candidates demonstrating the following attributes will have an increased chance of success inthe role:• Servicing review experience• Familiarity with credit rating agency review standards• Strong written communication skills• Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred• Soft skills: time management, thoughtfulness, reason, and problem solving, andprofessional communication
