Role Description
Arena Club is seeking a Senior Accountant who embodies meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to precision in every financial transaction. As the first full-time hire on our finance team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our accounting processes and financial landscape. Candidates should be highly organized, possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, and have the ability to ensure that every penny is accounted for. You will support our finance team with critical tasks, which include:
Manage and execute the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
Perform bank reconciliations to verify all transactions are recorded correctly.
Classify transactions accurately across various accounts and ledgers
Prepare and record detailed journal entries
Handle the processing and payment of bills, ensuring all expenditures are authorized and accounted for
Collaborate with the CFO to develop and implement robust revenue recognition policies and practices
Assist with tax preparation and filing in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements
Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard financial assets
Provide support for external audits by preparing requested schedules and providing explanations for auditors
Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing critical input for financial planning
Responsible for running payroll, ensuring accurate and timely processing of wages and compliance with payroll laws
Manage and optimize financial systems including QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Bill.com, Rippling, Stripe, and PayPal
Qualifications
A minimum of 10 years of accounting experience
US CPA license is required
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team
Experienced with QuickBooks, Ramp, Bill.com, Rippling, Stripe, and PayPal, demonstrating strong system management skills
