Within Properties, the Property management team strategically manages Target Properties to deliver a superior store environment for our guests and TMs through an innovative, thoughtful, and financially disciplined approach to property management on Value, Reliability and Brand.The Data & Insights team’s mission is to harness the power of data to inform critical decisions that enable reliable and on-brand guest experience at every Target location. We are uniquely positioned to drive meaningful analytical projects such as A/B testing, experimentation, statistical analysis to inform Property Management’s evolving strategy in an ever-change environment.
The Data & Insight team:Integrates into the business as strategic analytics partners and anticipates and uncovers stated or unstated needs.Listens and empowers team member and external stakeholder voiceUses our analytics expertise to test, measure, analyze, understand and answer various business questionsProvide reporting to help inform on the current state of the business and help facilitate process at scaleConnects our understanding across Properties to deliver data driven products and solutionsProvide meaningful insights and recommendationsCultivate robust collaborations with technology and data engineering teams to facilitate the implementation of optimal data management practices
About the role:
Our Data Analysts are expected to explore data, technologies, and the application of mathematical techniques to enable business insights. Data analysts accomplish this through a wide variety of skills including data wrangling, reporting, dashboarding, visualization, statistical analysis, modeling, analytical engineering and the presentation of recommendations and insight. Analysts will work within an agile environment, which requires active participation in ceremonies to accomplish the team’s goals. They also develop domain knowledge as they learn about their business area and support applying key data management principles like metadata management, data profiling, and documenting their data lineage.
Actively exploring data for specific use casesExpertise in business domain and processesCreating measurable insights from the data to be sharedDocumenting calculations, code, and adhering to data management principlesValidating and testing data assets of others in the form of peer reviewExploring statistical analysis that could be applied to the dataPerforming descriptive statistics including mean, variance, median, correlationApplies insights and testing in partnership with business usersActive participant in team meetingsAbility to work independently to turn business problems into data solutionsWilling and eager to learn business domain and analytical techniques to elevate team performanceSupport data infrastructure activities such as connecting, standardizing and automating various data sourcesSupport team operations such as backlog organization, documentation, education & communication material of data products
About You:BA/BS or equivalent experience2+ years' work experience in data analysis or masters level education in business analytics, data science, etc.Demonstrated leader in knowledge and application of data, reporting, and analyticsProficient with various programming languages- SQL, R, PythonProficient with relational and non-relational databasesStays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education to continue to raise individual and team performanceMath and/or Statistics:Mathematical logic (AND, OR NOT)Descriptive and Inferential StatisticsCalculus (weighted averages, rates of change, single variable)Testing and Research Design:Apply the scientific method and experimental designGenerate insight from observational data
