  • Administration: Installation, configuration, upgrades, backups/restores, user management, performance tuning, security hardening, replication, clustering (MySQL Group Replication, Galera), partitioning
  • Development: SQL (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, JOINs, subqueries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views)
  • Troubleshooting: Performance issues, replication errors, data corruption, security breaches
  • Storage Engines: InnoDB, MyISAM, Memory
  • High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR): Replication topologies, failover procedures, RTO/RPO, DR drills
  • Monitoring & Alerting: Performance monitoring tools (e.g., MySQL Enterprise Monitor, Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM)), setting up alerts, log analysis
  • Security: User management, access control (RBAC), encryption, data masking, security audits
  • Scripting: Shell scripting (Bash, etc.), Python (for automation)
  • Cloud Platforms (if applicable): AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL

Advanced Skills:

  • Performance Optimization: Query optimization techniques (indexing, query rewriting, EXPLAIN plan analysis), slow query analysis, tuning server parameters
  • Clustering: Advanced cluster configurations, troubleshooting cluster issues
  • Replication: Advanced replication setups (multi-source replication, cascading replication)
  • Database Design: Normalization, denormalization, data modeling, schema design
  • Troubleshooting Complex Issues: Deep dive into performance bottlenecks, replication failures, and other critical issues
