Linux Systems Administrator with Cloud Focus

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Linux Systems Administrator with a focus on cloud infrastructure to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and managing virtual machines (VMs) on cloud platforms, with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will install, configure, and maintain CentOS, Ubuntu, Apache, MySQL, and PHP on VMs, ensuring high availability, security, and optimal performance. This position offers an opportunity for candidates with solid Linux administration skills to expand their expertise in cloud environments, particularly on GCP.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Cloud Infrastructure Management:
Deploy and manage VMs on cloud platforms, primarily on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Monitor and optimize cloud resources to ensure efficient utilization and   cost-effectiveness.
Collaborate with the team to enhance cloud configurations and infrastructure reliability.
2. Linux and Application Stack Administration:
Install, configure, and maintain CentOS as the primary operating system on VMs.
Set up and configure the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) for application deployment.
Manage Linux system settings, security, and performance tuning for optimal functionality.
Perform regular updates, backups, and patch management to maintain system stability.
3. Application Deployment and Configuration:
Set up and configure Apache web server to support various applications.
Install and manage MySQL databases, including initial configuration, performance tuning, and user access control.
Install PHP and ensure compatibility with Apache and MySQL, handling necessary configurations for web applications.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to server configurations and application deployments.
4. Security and Compliance:
Implement and maintain security practices on VMs, including firewall settings, access control, and data protection measures.
Conduct regular security audits, apply patches, and respond to security alerts.
5. Documentation and Support
Document all configurations, installations, and maintenance activities for future reference.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure-related issues as they arise.
Provide occasional guidance and training to team members on cloud management best practices.
Qualifications:
Strong experience as a Linux Systems Administrator, with knowledge of CentOS, Ubuntu.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform, AWS) and experience deploying VMs.
Proficiency in managing and configuring Apache, MySQL, and PHP.
Understanding of network protocols, firewalls, and cloud security practices.
Ability to learn and adapt to new cloud platforms and tools, with a focus on expanding GCP skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus, though not required.
Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation.
Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
Understanding of cloud cost management and resource optimization techniques.
