Tekion employs close to 3,000 people across North America, Asia and Europe. We are looking for a highly skilled Staff Data Engineer with expertise in SQL and proficiency in data pipeline with DBT. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in designing and maintaining data systems, advanced SQL querying, and developing impactful visualizations to support business decision-making. This role requires deep technical expertise in data engineering, ETL processes, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines with python and ETL processes using SQL and other relevant technologies. Optimize and streamline data workflows to ensure efficiency and scalability. Develop complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) tasks. Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver actionable solutions. Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the data lifecycle. Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance on SQL best practices and data visualization techniques. Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in SQL & data engineering. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 8 years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, or a related role. Expertise in SQL querying, performance tuning, and database design principles. Experience with data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Athena, Clickhouse). Solid understanding of ETL processes, data modelling, and data integration techniques . Proven track record of delivering scalable and efficient data solutions. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders. Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Experience in real-time data processing is a plus. Strong proficiency in Python programming and experience with relevant libraries and frameworks (e.g., pandas, NumPy, SQLAlchemy). Experience in building & maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business requirements and ensure data integrity. Experience in implementing various data design patterns for Data Warehouses (Eg: Medallion architecture) Attributes: Strong analytical mindset with a passion for leveraging data to drive business decisions. Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
