Job Summary:

The Head of Department (HOD) – Senior Coordinator is responsible for providing academic and administrative leadership within the department. The role includes strategic planning, staff coordination, curriculum oversight, performance management, and quality assurance. The Senior Coordinator will ensure that departmental goals align with the institution's overall mission and maintain a high standard of education or service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management:

  • Lead and manage the department's academic and/or operational functions.

  • Develop and implement departmental strategies and objectives.

  • Coordinate with faculty/staff to ensure high-quality teaching, learning, or service outcomes.

  • Promote a collaborative and professional work environment.

Curriculum & Program Oversight (for Academic Institutions):

  • Monitor and evaluate curriculum delivery and development.

  • Coordinate course planning, timetabling, and resource allocation.

  • Support innovation in teaching methodologies and assessment strategies.

Staff Supervision & Development:

  • Supervise departmental staff and conduct regular performance reviews.

  • Identify training needs and facilitate professional development opportunities.

  • Mentor junior faculty or staff to promote career growth.

Administrative Coordination:

  • Organize departmental meetings, record minutes, and ensure follow-ups.

  • Manage budgets, equipment, and resources effectively.

  • Prepare reports and documentation as required by senior management.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory bodies.

  • Conduct regular audits and evaluations to maintain service/education quality.

  • Implement corrective actions as needed based on feedback and assessments.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field (Ph.D. preferred for academic roles).

  • Minimum (X) years of relevant experience, including (X) years in a leadership or coordination role.

  • Proven experience in managing teams and departmental operations.

  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development, teaching strategies, or service delivery (as applicable).
