Job Description:

The Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator/Developer will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing our PostgreSQL databases. This individual will be responsible for designing and implementing database architectures, performing initial setups, and managing data and performance. They will also leverage their knowledge of PostgreSQL and Linux to ensure the efficiency and reliability of our databases, particularly within the context of telecom and service assurance systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Architecture: Design and develop robust and scalable PostgreSQL database architectures tailored to meet organizational needs.
  • Database Administration: Perform initial setup, configuration, and maintenance of PostgreSQL databases. Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor, analyze, and optimize database performance. Implement best practices for query optimization and indexing.
  • Data Management: Oversee data management tasks including data migration, backup, and recovery. Ensure data integrity and security.
  • Linux Environment: Utilize strong knowledge of Linux systems to manage PostgreSQL databases effectively. Perform database operations and scripting using psql commands.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to support database needs, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database architectures, processes, and configurations.

Mandatory Skills:

  • PostgreSQL Expertise: Proven experience in PostgreSQL database administration and development, including a strong understanding of database architecture and optimization techniques.
  • Linux Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Linux environments and the ability to perform database operations and scripting using psql commands.
  • Database Performance: Demonstrated ability to manage database performance, including tuning and query optimization.
  • Architecture Design: Experience in designing and implementing effective and scalable database architectures.
  • Data Management: Competency in data management tasks such as migration, backup, and recovery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Telecom & OSS Experience: Background in telecom systems and operational support systems (OSS), particularly in service assurance contexts.
  • Certifications: Relevant PostgreSQL or Linux certifications (e.g., PostgreSQL Certified Professional, RHCE).
  • Scripting Languages: Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation tasks.
