About the position

We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join our company. The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing various products using SolidWorks software. The ideal candidate should have expertise in sheet metal design, CNC machining, rotary mechanisms, plastics, and mechanical engineering principles. Experience with laser cutting processes will be an added advantage. The Design Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of design projects.

Job Skills -

Deep knowledge of materials like brass, steel, wood, leather, sheet metal and other high-quality raw materials.

Strong skills in product conceptualization, prototyping, and design iteration.

Ability to analyze design challenges and find practical solutions.

Software knowledge in Autocad, Solidworks, keyshot/ 3DSMax/ Maya.

Willingness to travel as and when required.

Personal Attributes:

Excellent communication, good personality, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multi-tasking simultaneously.

Proactive and able to deliver independently as well in coordination with various team.

1. Product Design & Conceptualization

- Lead the design and development of trunks, from ideation to final design approval, ensuring they meet functional, aesthetic, and client requirements.- Develop visually appealing trunk designs, focusing on finish, textures, and customizability to appeal to diverse client segments.- Design and develop products, focusing on sheet metal components, CNC machining, rotary mechanisms, plastics also can provide input to machine format cutting drawing/ nesting.- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are manufactural, cost-effective, and meet quality standards.- Conduct feasibility studies and analyse design concepts to ensure functionality, reliability, and performance.

2. 2D Drawings & Drafting

- Utilize SolidWorks software to create 3D functional models' assembly, drawings, and detailed part drawings.- Generate detailed technical drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications, specifically for trunk components like handles, wheels, hinges and locks.- Create accurate 2D technical drawings using software like AutoCAD or similar tools.- Ensure drawings meet product standards and specifications.- Modify and revise designs as per project requirements.

3. Bill of Quantity & Bill of Materials (BOQ & BOM)

- Prepare and manage accurate detailed BOQs & BOMs for each product cycle.- Ensure the accuracy of materials, components, and quantities.- Collaborate with procurement and manufacturing teams for BOM validation.

4. Prototyping & Testing

- Design and develop prototypes based on product specifications.- Collaborate with vendor & cross-functional teams for prototype testing and validation as per the requirement.- Identify and address design issues during prototyping to improve final output.- QC of wooden structure, metal parts & category part till approval from management.- Updating 2D & BOM once the prototype is approved and ready to be sent to production.

5.Team & training

- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and branding, to understand requirements and incorporate feedback into designs.- Stay updated with industry trends, advancements in manufacturing processes, and new materials to drive innovation and improve design efficiency.- Adhere to company policies and industry regulations, including safety standards and intellectual property rights.
