A Costing Head with over 10 years of experience in manufacturing, specializing in plant setup within an SAP environment and team handling, is responsible for overseeing cost accounting functions, implementing costing systems, supporting decision-making, and leading teams to optimize costs and processes
Key ResponsibilitiesCost System Setup & Maintenance: Implement and manage accurate process cost information systems using SAP; reconcile standard costs to actual costs; handle perpetual inventory systems; support complete integration with SAP for plant setup and operations
Financial Planning & Analysis: Prepare monthly and annual financial statements (profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow), develop and monitor budgets/forecasts, conduct variance analysis, ensure cost control, and enable strategic planning for plant operations
Manufacturing Cost Management: Analyze production costs, material consumption, overhead allocation, inventory valuation, and ensure cost optimization through loss identification and process improvement
SAP Expertise:Lead SAP FICO implementations or upgrades for costing functionalities, including setting up cost centers, profit centers, costing variants, and managing integration with other SAP modules (PP, MM, FI)
Reporting & MIS:Deliver timely cost-related reports for management, comparing standard versus actual costs, providing actionable insights for profitability, pricing, and decision support; coordinate ad hoc reporting and special analysis
6.Team Leadership:Direct, develop, train, and evaluate team members; ensure collaborative environment in cross-department projects; guide junior staff on cost accounting practices and SAP workflows
7.Compliance & Audits:Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (IND AS) support internal and external audits; continuously improve internal controls and documentation
8.Continuous Improvement:Drive productivity initiatives and cost reduction programs across manufacturing operations
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced certifications (ICWA, CMA, CPA, MBA) highly desirable
Experience:Over 10 years in cost management roles in manufacturing, with a strong track record of plant setups and cost optimization in SAP environment
Technical:Extensive experience with SAP FICO (especially product costing, CO), inventory control, reporting tools, and Microsoft Excel
Managerial:Proven ability to lead teams, conduct cross-functional projects, and influence plant-wide cost culture
Communication:Strong report writing, presentation, and stakeholder management capabilities
Example DutiesSet up and configure SAP costing for new plant operations
Conduct monthly close processes and reconcile accounts
Lead cost saving and loss reduction projects across the factory
Mentor team members and oversee their performance evaluations
Prepare and deliver management cost reports for key decisions
