Job Title: ETL Automation Tester (Python, Data Testing)

Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced ETL Automation Tester with a strong background in testing data pipelines, data sources, and ETL processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for validating and automating the testing of ETL jobs that extract, transform, and load data into target databases. Proficiency in Python scripting is required to build and maintain automation frameworks for data validation and ensure the integrity of data across systems. The role also involves testing complex transformations and handling large datasets efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed testing of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure data is accurately extracted from multiple sources, transformed based on business rules, and loaded into target databases.
  • Develop and execute Python scripts to automate ETL validation and data quality checks.
  • Work closely with Data Engineers and Business Analysts to understand the data flows, transformations, and reporting requirements.
  • Create comprehensive test cases and scenarios for different stages of the ETL pipeline, ensuring coverage for all data integration points.
  • Validate the transformation logic, data aggregation, filtering, and enrichment rules.
  • Monitor and test the data loading process into data warehouses, ensuring the correctness, completeness, and timeliness of data.
  • Write and execute complex SQL queries to verify data integrity, comparing source and target datasets.
  • Identify and troubleshoot data anomalies, mismatches, and discrepancies in both structured and unstructured data.
  • Ensure performance and scalability of ETL processes by identifying bottlenecks and testing large datasets.
  • Prepare and present test execution reports, providing insights on testing progress, bugs, and issues found.

Mandatory Skills:

  • ETL Testing: Expertise in testing data extraction, transformation, and loading processes across various data pipelines.
  • Python: Strong proficiency in Python for developing automated test scripts and frameworks.
  • Data Validation: Proven ability to validate data integrity and accuracy through comprehensive testing strategies.
  • SQL: Advanced knowledge of SQL to write and execute queries for testing and verifying data at different stages of the ETL process.
  • Data Sources and Targets: Experience in testing across various data sources (e.g., flat files, APIs, databases) and target systems (e.g., data warehouses, cloud storage).
